Tails of the Dragon Slayer -- Episode VI: The Duel

My Sparrow’s engine hummed as I flew across the snow of Haakon Precipice toward Felwinter Peak. The hand cannon I found when I was six years old rested on my hip. Alec’s gonna find out what it’s like to end up on the wrong side of the fight! I though bitterly. I remembered when he said the first time I met him. He had wished that Shin had never found me, and that I would turn into a Dregen Yor. As I thought of what our battle might consist of, I didn’t notice that, as I turned a corner, there was a forklift there. My Sparrow hit it dead on, throwing me about ten feet from the forklift. “Hey!” I yelled from my back, looking at the metal hunk I hit. “Who left that piece of junk in the middle of the road?” The group wouldn’t be too happy to find out that I had stolen a Sparrow, and even less happy to find out that I crashed it. I sat up and looked around. Everything seemed to be in order. I still had the gun, so ammo, my neckl… Wait a second. My necklace was missing! The one with the tooth from the Daybreaker I killed. Nothing could replace it. Where was it? It wasn’t around my neck where I had it previously. I ran over to where the Sparrow crashed, and found it lying three feet from the crash site, I let out a sigh of relief. I don’t know what I would do without the necklace. After finding the tooth and regaining my footing after the crash, I scanned the surroundings. I needed to know where Felwinter Peak was and get there fast. By Sparrow wasn’t an option anymore, but I could still run. After looking for about ten seconds, I saw a mountain that must have been Felwinter Peak. I ran to it as fast as I could. If I could get there, then I could end Alec’s attempts to take over the Iron Lord’s home. Fifteen minutes had passed by from when I left. The mountain was in view, and I think I saw Alec’s camp. When I got within 200 yards of the camp, I began to creep. I was going to find Alec and shoot him before he knew what happened. I entered his tent from the back, slowly and quietly walked up to his bed, took out my gun, and pulled the trigger where his head would be. There was a loud bang that resounded across the valley. When I pulled the covers to see if he was dead, however, I found that there was no one in the bed, and Alec rushed in with his shotgun in hand. “Whaddu ya think you’re doing in here?” Alec yelled. “Don’t you recognize me?” I asked back. “I mean, I couldn’t have changed that much. After all, my hair’s still the same style, I’ve still got this scar from where Dredgen Yor tried to shoot me.” “The kid?” “Yeah, I’m the kid who you said wasn’t worth your time babysitting.” “You aren’t worth my time! You’re a waste of shotgun ammo, but I know why you’re here! And I can’t let you leave alive!” Alec rushed at me with his shotgun. I dove underneath him between his legs, and kicked him in the groin. When Alec squealed like a little girl, I ran out of the tent and onto the table where all the plans were for taking over the mountain. I could only get a glimpse of the plans, but it had something to do with destroying a cable car track. Alec burst out of the tent right as I flipped the table to protect myself from his shotgun. Four barrels, five rounds, plus full auto… It was like he was the fourth horsemen of the apocalypse. I waited for the five shots to deploy, but they didn’t. It was like he was waiting for me to pop out and shoot. If there was one thing that I should’ve brought with me, it would be a knife, but when I looked to the right, stuck in the table top was a knife. “Thank you, Alec!” I popped up, and threw the knife right at his left shoulder. As he wheeled back, I shot him with my gun in the other shoulder. I fired two more at his head, knocking of his helmet. Blood oozed out of his shoulders; A fact that I noticed as I walked over to him. Alec was dumbfounded that I was able to throw a knife and shoot him, that he didn’t even pick up his shotgun. “H…h…how did you do that?” He stammered. “Turns out I’m not useless to babysit after all.” I lifted the gun to his forehead. “Tell me Alec, do you know what the first curse, of all the curses is?” Alec shook his head in response. “It’s when death becomes an afterthought.” I smirked after I said those last words, and pulled the trigger. Alec fell to the ground. The blood staining the snow. It was at that moment when Shin and his team arrived at the camp, and I could see a look of astonishment in many eyes. Shin was not among the astonished.
