Today marks the beginning of my new series, Timeless! I would like to introduce everyone to my newest characters, soon to join the Paradox Universe!
A branch of leaves were pushed clear, allowing a Guardian to trudge forward through the woods. The Titan, Kendrick Frost, did the complete opposite of blend in with his environment. Despite exploring the lush jungles of Venus, Kendrick had nothing green on him. His armor was gold plated with a jet black underarmor. His helmet also had a large, singular horn jutting out of the forehead.
Kendrick climbed onto a rock, then laid down. He pulled out a pair of binoculars and looked into the basin. "What do we have here?" Kendrick asked, as he gazed upon the fortress covered in overgrowth.
"It appears Vexy... It also appears that it hasn't been opened in centuries," Kendrick's ghost, Oliver, said.
"All the better!" Kendrick said. "Now, we just have to find a way in..."
"Shall we try the sneaky, incognito tactic?" Oliver said with a bit of an attitude.
Kendrick turned to his ghost, and smiled under his helmet. "Bud, you know that's not how we roll..."
"Yes, because the way we 'roll' is so much better..."
"Of course it is!"
The Guardian and his ghost slid down the hillside. He tucked and rolled to a stop, then scanned the environment. Vex everywhere! Kendrick took his dual submachine guns and aimed at the robots.
"Wait!!" Oliver shouted. He flew to a Vex unit and scanned its body. It had a platinum white frame with gold details-- it was a Precursor! The ghost, smiling if he could, turned back to his Guardian. "How old do you think these bad boys are?"
Kendrick clipped his weapons back onto his hip, and inspected the frozen robots. They were not moving, and moss was growing all around them. "They look like they have been dead since the Golden Age..." he said.
"They may look like that... but they ain't," Oliver said. "They're alive and kicking, and quite young actually... It seems they were built, a month ago."
The Guardian looked to the ghost with the shell with fire decals. "You're s***in' me, right? A month ago? No, they'd still be spotless after just a month..." He crossed his arms and waited.
"That's what I was thinking," Oliver stated. "But these Vex aren't as old as you think they are. Even this fortress is still bein' used, as in, right this instant..." Kendrick quickly drew his submachine guns and watched the massive gate. Nothing.
The Guardian slowly lowered his weapons for a second time. "What are you doin'? This is a game, isn't it?"
"No game, man... This is legit." Oliver flew to the gate himself and scanned it. "The gears in here are still fully functional."
Kendrick stepped up to the gate and pulled off his golden helmet. He leaned his ear against the metal, then knocked on it a couple of times. "Dead as a rock... What are you getting at?"
"I see it too; it looks desolate, but I'm telling you it's not! It's as busy as the Tower on Xûrday."
"How are you scanning it?" Kendrick asked.
"Just it," Oliver replied.
"It?"
"Yes."
"No fourth dimensional scans, no multiverse bulls***... just, 'it'? As in, the 'it' that we are looking at... right now?"
"Yes."
"How?!" Kendrick exclaimed after having his mind blown. He rubbed his hands back across his head as he paced around.
"No idea," Oliver rushed back to the Precursor. "This poor guy is moving at normal speed. He's going straight for the door."
"But the world around it-- including us-- is perceiving them as not moving at all, and hundreds of years old?..."
"Yep..."
The titan sighed deeply. "Cool..." Kendrick said as he looked around the site.
Kendrick sat on the steps in front of the gate. He propped his chin on his arms, which were propped on his knees. He looked up at the Vex for a moment. Did they move? Of course they didn't. The titan sighed, then dropped his head again.
Oliver was flying around, scanning the structure. "Yup. I can't find, a thing. Nothing. Nada. Not. A. Thing," Oliver flew down to Kendrick and landed on his shoulder.
The titan cocked his head to his ghost. "What do you mean 'nothing'? 'Nothing' what? No glimmer, no rum, no what?!"
"My scans say I could fly right through that door! But I can't! This whatchamacallit isn't givin' me anything to work with." Oliver slumped down on Kendrick's shoulder.
The Guardian perked up, and a devilish grin formed on his face. A thought popped up his head. "Oliver, where's my phone? I need to make a call..."
