As to the actual point, there is nothing new where DLC is concerned. At least in the PC world (Personal Computer, that is; not Politically Correct :-) ). Back in the old days they were called expansion packs. I remember them for Wing Commander, Quake, Flight Sim, and MechWarrior had some of the best. If you didn't buy the physical disks, you were logging into the vendor's BBS and letting the download run while you were away. Hopefully using Zmodem.
If a company provides good value to me I buy it. If they don't, I don't. I'm not entitled to their content. They're not entitled to my money. If they create something with a good cost-benefit for the customer, everyone wins. I want them to make a profit. I want the to be in business for D2.
I don't think people understand how much it costs to simply keep the lights on at a business.
