A recent example: Mass Effect Andromeda.
I read they could have had 6 more months to polish the game before releasing it. The amount of pre-orders were high enough to say "F it, let's get paid" after they weighed the cost of 6 more months development time VS pre-order sales. This is a great example of how pre-ordering something you know nothing about is a bad idea. Instead of 6 months of polish & quality improvement we got "my face is tired".
Pre-orders often lead to a worse game.
Hell, I spent $100 today on cherries. I saw the cherries were of top quality and supported the salesman. I wasn't sold a future promise that could have gone poorly if I invested before seeing the final product. It's not about having a job or disposable income. It's about supporting a bad business practice.

You're completely clueless. Guaranteed no one said, "-blam!- it, we got preorders so let's ship a broken game." The decision is more likely to have been weighing the cost/benefit of a six-month delay on overall sales, along with the severity of the issues and ability to patch them soon, which is perfectly legitimate. Besides the fact that Andromeda is nowhere near broken in terms of the main game. If you bought it for PVP, then frankly you deserve whatever happens; that was just dumb.
