And as an adult, I find it stupid that other "adults" think that putting $5 down on a game that can be cancelled and returned at any moment even after release is paying for something before knowing anything about it. No it's simply reserving a copy of a game that you think may or may not be popular and you want to make sure there is a copy in GameStop available for you. Gaming companies DO NOT see a dime from preorders. They are mainly used to benefit the retailer in order to have an accurate number of copies available based off perceived interest from preorders.

  • Your argument only works if you preorder at GameStop, which is the only retailer I'm aware of that offers refunds on preorders as a standard service.

  • Steam and other PC based vendors for games allow cancellations up to the day before which allows plenty of time to see whether you want to buy the game.

  • Good info, I didn't know that. I think it was assumed that the conversation was oriented towards console games though.

  • Please tell me one vendor for console or PC that does not allow a cancellation of a preorder before release. you won't be able to because they don't exist. Pre-orders are not binding or finalized sales. You will also find companies that are willing to refund even after the game comes out but you are typically only allowed one "get out of jail free" card per account. I simply mentioned steam as a point of reference, didn't think I needed to list every vendor haha.

  • PSN allows refunds on preorders up to the day before if you speak to customer service(have done it several times), try again...

PSN, Amazon, Microsoft Store, and even Steam says that preorders that go longer than 3 months aren't refundable. Crying to customer services isn't a guarantee that you'll get refunded. Good for you for being an expert cry baby apparently. Refund laws also vary by location. Maybe you live in a refund friendly location
