He going on a hike at a national park and I think he's planning on jumping off a cliff. He's already driving there. I need some advice because I'm not sure how to stop him without actually being there. I can tell he's been depressed for awhile but as you can tell it's gotten worse.
EDIT: He says he won't do it and he just needs time but I'm afraid he's saying that so I don't call the cops
Edit: he's good now

If I were in that situation, I would do everything in my physical power to prevent that. I would knock them the -blam!- out if it meant saving them from jumping off a cliff.

It's not your place to decide that he has to live.

You know there's like a hotline you can call and they will be a lot more helpful than this cesspool

Good news, for a change. Glad to hear your friend is still among the living.
-
When you're a jumper and you take that last step one of two things is gonna go through your head. Either: Relief that whatever you're going through will finally be over. Or: I wanna go back, I wanna go back.. When you use a gun only one thing goes through your head. Just food for thought.
-
Should have went. He might chicken out and need a shove.

-
Call 911 and the suicide hotline and hope you get to him in time. Good luck man.
-
Park rangers, 911, or go there yourself and use force. I say all 3. Prayers to your friend. Best of luck.

Help him, at least you won't have to deal with the guild that you did nothing.

It's been 18 hours......Update??

Man...if only we had some system or group of people that assisted citizens in danger
what I'm saying is you're an idiot. Call the police nimrod
-
Tell him you feel like killing yourself. Ppl who are Pissed at the world and want to take it out on themselves instead of others, usually do so because they have a deep concern for others. So if you tell him you're in a bad spot and you want to die, he will probably come try to take care of you first. Giving you an opportunity to have a talk with him. If you can't reach him. Park Rangers or 911.

If you can't get there to stop him, there is always 911. No offense but that should have been your first choice rather than asking #Offtopic for advice.
-
He's going to be walking on a path and then -blam!-ing police will tackle him lol
-
Was the attempt to stop him successful?
-
Sadly all you can really do is keep someone talking. Once they choose to stop talking, the only way to prevent tragedy is to intervene. Perhaps you aren't able to intercept them, but the authorities may be able to. Past that, the decision rests squarely on the shoulders of the individual with what they plan to do with their life. I sincerely hope this works out without loss of life.
