I hate Cayde's attitude! Yes, the teaser was funny, I laughed and have watched it a dozen times. His speech in the actual trailer was funny too, and again I've watched out several times already.
But seriously, everything Cayde has been working to protect has been destroyed. The tower is destroyed, killing hundreds, if not thousands, of Vanguard members which surely includes at least a couple guardians Cayde cares about. On top of that the last human/awoken/exo city on Earth is attacked, resulting in who knows how many non-guardians being killed, imprisoned, or enslaved by the Cabal.
The trailer shows Cayde giving a speech outside the city walls, as the city burns and more cabal ships arrive. There's not many guardians around him, much smaller than what's seen after we kill the Heart of the Black Garden.
THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE DEAD! For some reason, many of the guardians that fall aren't being revived by their ghosts, and all the civilians are screwed. Yet Cayde-6 doesn't seem to care. He just half-asses that speech.
Cayde shows personality and affection for others during the mission Hunters get their void powers. We discover the body of his friend, dead, and he's noticeably distraught.
I understand Cayde-6 is supposed to be the foil of Zavala, which I like! Those two have great interactions! Instead of making Cayde a smartass in the first two reveals of Destiny 2, they could have gone the other way.
While Zavala is calm and collected while organizing the counter-attack, have Cayde-6 impulsive, angry, and taking vengeance. Have him grab a few guardians to go kick some Cabal ass!
TL;DR Give Cayde's personality some depth, not just a constant smartass. It works, he plays the cool/funny guy perfectly, but he needs more depth.

Thanks for sharing, we have all been made better people for it.

His character has been through a lot of awful circumstances so he uses humor as a defensive mechanism. He's probably gone a little insane from it.

It's just a trailer, chill.
