*A Wild Gringo has appeared*
Video Game Box art has been somewhat of an annoyance to people for a while now. It seems small, after all it affects the game in no real way, but Video Game cover art is very important. It is the thing that people first see about a game. Before you play it, see the story and all that, before you read the back, the first thing you see is the cover. The cover for a video game should tell a lot about what it is, is it action, platformer, lighthearted, dark, mysterious, etc. The video posted above goes into this in depth but basically video game box art has devolved into mostly some bad ass holding a gun. Even great games like Bioshock or Mass Effect 3 can be summed up with every other game because it has the same generic "guy with a gun" as every other game.
As IHE in the video said, the initial cover art for Destiny was mysterious, intriguing, and beautiful. Sadly for whatever reason they changed it and we got another guy standing with a gun. I simply hope Bungie choses to separate Destiny 2 from the sea of generic FPS's with its cover art (and the gameplay itself of course). I don't know what it is about but that official image seems perfect. If it is representative of Destiny 2's story, I hope the cover art is closer to that than the leaked poster, with a guy holding a gun.
