House of Scar, Ch. 10: Clergy Search, Part 1

If you missed the last chapter, you can find it here. If you haven't read all the chapters, go to the Table of Contents. Hope you enjoy this chapter! :D I searched the eastern portion of Pahanin’s Cove for Vesrik’s delusions. Where on this Vex-riddled planet would we find an Archon Priest? Vosyth’s order is full of them! He should have listened to me, but he hates how pedantic that old eliksni is. Always saying how eliksni should live; Vesrik’s right about him, but still not a valid reason. Now he sends me down here to find someone worthy of being the Archon Priest for Scar. Now I am Nayvadis, baron of Scar, instead of what I was. I used to be considered one of the greatest pilots for the House of Kings. I was heir to the throne, but instead, I chose what was in my blood. Why did I make such an irrational decision? Because this is where I belong. The thought passed my mind for mere heartbeats, but I knew that I had regret within me. I made this choice and my fate is sealed to serve under the kell who feels forever in his hands. Vesrik is tricky, and I know his secrets. He has something that makes him more powerful than the other kells. Variks knows it, and so do I. Vesrik was desperate when he took what seemed like gushing gold, eyes without rationale. He does not want it, does not need it! I cannot say he is not very wise; he has thoroughly concealed the bones in his closet. I had to get back to working. Even delusions can be real, and sadly, that’s my motivation for this mission. Luckily, if anyone knew all the eliksni in Pahanin’s Cove, it would be Savis. He works in a bar here in the eastern part of the town. That is what I like about the cove: they accept you, so long as you’re not House Winter eliksni, in which they hide from. My human crew and I arrived to Savis’ bar, which he called, Hot Shots. All I could think of how fitting the name, especially for where it was placed. When I entered the bar, no one even took the time to look at me. They were busy laughing, drinking, or buried in their card games. The only one who turned to look at me was Savis. I approached his bar, and he yelled to me, “Eh, Nayvadis! Haven’t seen you in ages, mate! And… what the devil! That ain’t a King cloak you be wearing!” “No, I went and joined the House of Scar. I felt what was in my blood was more important than the throne.” The eliksni chuckles, indubitably tipsy. “I don’t know if that’s entirely worth it, but each to their own. Anyways, what bring you to the cove?” “Yes”, I replied, “I am looking for someone who might be worthy of being called ‘Archon Priest’. Vesrik needs one to build his prime, and he wanted to search here… of all places.” Savis nods, and it looks like he is having an epiphany, although I do not trust his judgment when he is like this. “There is one in Pahanin’s Cove that might be able to. He was rumored to have either left or exiled from Vosyth’s order, and he seems to be seeking a house to call home.” By the Great Machine, lady luck is in my favor! “Thank goodness! What is his name? Where is he?” “He goes by the name of Vrayth. You can find him in the city center, in a house near Pahanin’s Spire. He is quite strange, though. I can’t describe it to you; you will know once you meet him.” I say cheerfully, “Thank you, Savis. I do not have time to stay and catch up. I need to go ahead and find this Vrayth.” Savis stops me before I rush off. “Wait, I almost forgot, someone has a message for Vesrik. It was a messenger from the House of Talons. He’s in the corner over there, waiting for you.” The Talons? What would they want with Vesrik? Honestly, I never know anything these days. The House of Talons is quite the mysterious bunch. I hear sometimes they are present within the Last City itself. I approach the cloaked vandal, and he stares at me, looking as if he expected me. He says, “Finally. I thought I was going to be here forever. My kell has told me to give a message to Vesrik. He requests help with an… issue he has had with someone.” The messenger places a storage drive in my hand. "Should I look at the message now?" The vandal gets up and says, "No, no! Save it for Vesrik. That is the kell's orders; you can look at it all you want when he sees it." Feisty, for a little guy. "Fine. I'll wait until I get to the ship." “Good! Then my job on this scorching planet is done.” The Talon messenger leaves the bar, and I stand wondering at what he is keeping within this storage drive. I should hurry to the city center. I must find this Vrayth. I nod to my guards, ensuring them to continue.

 • Idea just popped into my head!
Vesrik is competitor for the Kell Of Kells, yesss? Or at least he could be, in the eyes of, say, the kell of kings? I have a character named Gravis - she is the kell of kings and she has an assassin/attack dog named Shade, who eliminates targets that she doesn't like. Maybe Gravis thinks that Vesrik is a threat to her, and she sends Shade to bring him down.
You don't have to, I just thought it would be an easy way to connect.
Oh no, does Vesrik have gold-plated ahamkara bones?
