I already am a developer and most recently worked in the games industry for a major publisher....the following are good examples of incompetence by Bungie's sandbox team: - Changing the heath regen code used by Hungering Blade without checking whether anything else was affected. Total rookie coding mistake - Buffing the Rangefinder time to ADS when you meant to nerf it - Saying you are buffing High AR damage by 4% but actually implementing it as 0.04% (utterly negligible change) and then lying about your intention when your incompetence is exposed And I get that video game developers think they are very special creative geniuses that will be hamstrung if anything like proper controls around source code are forced on them. Either there is a lack of leadership and quality control in their PvP design and dev team OR the engine they used to create D1 is a fragile beast that results in numerous unanticipated side effects whenever you try to change anything But if that s the case there is no excuse for not testing all changes to death to ensure there are no unwanted side effects. Basically, the worse the standards around coding are, the more side effects there will be.
