With the return of Crota's end comes the legendary sniper Black Hammer. Black Hammer and Black Spindle both share the unique perk White Nail which refills your magazine from your reserve ammo after landing 3 precision shots. However why would anyone want to use the Exotic Black Spindle when you could use the Legendary Black Hammer and free up your exotic weapon slot for other exotics. This is why I believe Black Spindle should be buffed to have the original White Nail perk which refilled your magazine without taking ammo from your reserves and essentially allowed you to endlessly have ammo for this Sniper as long as you had the skill to land precision shots. Black Spindle will become obsolete otherwise and this buff would give players a reason to use it. Plus the original White Nail perk was a true exotic perk and deserves to have an exotic with it.

Do you think that this might be over-used in pvp with the current lack is special ammo? I know it would mean people going for critical hits not body shots but there would be screams for it to be nerfed inside 24 hours

An idea for a buff is to add an extra 6 shots to the magazine and for the 3 shots to be returned to the magazine after you land 3 head shots.

Give the infinite ammo version to Black Spindle to make it worth its exotic status. Heck, cuts it's carrying capacity to 6 or something. Like you MUST keep hitting crits or lose all your ammo.. Leave Black Hammer taking ammo from reserve.

They need to find a way to make Black Spindle more like an Exotic, so that Black Hammer doesn't destroy it. Maybe adding some Mark of the Devourer?

Like if there is one round left in the mag, you can't pick up any ammo for it until you fire. But if you land a precision shot, the ammo regens or something like that. It's just a loose idea, needs to be worked out.

I don't think Bungie will do that. I find it more likely that they'll leave Black Spindle alone and make Black Hammer only put 2 rounds in the mag. Or something like that.

Didn't the black hammer only drop in Crota Normal Mode? And then all the primaries dropped in Crota Hard Mode? So if they only raise light level on hard mode will special raid weapons such as black hammer even drop? Hmm..thinking maybe we wait for all the facts before making requests like this one about white nail perk.

They need to rework the White Nail perk for the Hammer and Spindle. For the Spindle, White Nail should remain the same, but it should go back to functioning like it did in Y1-pre nerf when it pulled the rounds out of thin air instead of from your reserve. This will match the gun up with an exotic perk worthy of the exotic slot. The BIGGEST complaint about the OG B-Hammer was that it was a legendary gun with an exotic perk. Spindle is now an exotic with a legendary perk. Easy fix. Make the perk exotic again and put it on the Spindle. For the Hammer, remove White Nail and give it something along the lines of Phantom Bullet, Triple Tap, Triple Double, etc. Whatever they choose to do. This will match the legendary gun with the legendary perk so that it will not overpower Spindle (but then nobody's going to use Hammer over Spindle- unless your hot for that Hive Disruptor perk)

Which is a shame because Black Spindle is a decent weapon. It's sights also work for PvP.

Tbh I just think the reserves should be boosted and leave the perk as it is currently... simply because it was such an op perk... basically a boss melter which as quickly as it helped end strikes and such it did kinda take a bit of the fun and the challenge away...

They won't do that. What they could do is refill your mag with 3 bullets but only take 1 bullet from reserves on the black spindle.
