After reading the post I feel kinda deflated, on one hand its good that there will be no real advantage given to people starting Destiny 2, but on the other I feel like everything that I stored or accomplished may have been for nothing, that the time effort and in some cases money for the past 3 years may have been wasted. sure we have our accomplishment books but it really feels like its saying once they are done stop playing, every iron banner, faction rank, trials game or challenge of elders completed was meaningless.
it kills the compitition and completionist in me. I have been trying to collect all the ships missing 9, 3 raid ships 2 rare vendor 2 planetary 1 prison of elders 1 trials. Shaders I'am missing 5, 4 trials, 1 strike. 8 emblems, 1 quest, 1 strike, 2 class, 4 trials. I was keeping track of these things, now for them not to mean anything, kinda kills the inhibition to continue playing these activities, I am now just starting to get into trials but now because of this it feels like there is no point. Will I do there next activity? Sure, but it feels that once that's complete there is nothing left in Destiny, It make me in a way less enthused about Destiny 2 because its the end of a game that I put a lot of work into and makes me leery of how destiny 2 will be handled.
I do hope that there is something that either will change or that they will modify so it doesn't feel this way but from the out set I'm am not confident.

Contrary to bungies efforts to make me hate destiny, i managed to get some fun grinding strikes and doing raids. That said, im sure destiny 2 will have some fun aspects to it, but im sure micro-transactions will be more prevalent. Locking out content behind DLC paywalls will be more prevalent. Pvp weapon tuning will continue to screw with pve players. PvP will continue to be p2p.

Lol for some reason i have a feeling that Destiny players have OCD.

Edited by Marc-79: 3/4/2017 9:30:48 AMWhile i do feel for the yr1 vets and people who have completed special tasks in order to get emblems etc, I'm looking at things in another way. I first started playing when TTK was released. (My wife got me the ps4: and Destiny came bundled with it.) And the guys who helped me with my first kingsfall etc are still guys I play the game with today and have become really good friends with. Ive always seen the playerbase as segregated. Alpha abd beta players, yr 1, players who startedwith ROI and so on. I read a post with a poll in it earlier and it stated that 75% of D1 players will buy D2. And im sure that the remaining 25% will calm down and play the sequel.. Everyone will start D2 on an even footing. Everyone will be equal.. And i find that very exciting. Veteran players are still here 3 years in. Im still here 2 years in... Still enamoured with the game. Still enjoying time chatting with my friends. I dont care about emblems or shaders. Anything ive achieved will be visable to anyone who cares to actually go look for it.. Which i find highly unlikely. Ive had a blast since I've been playing. And will carry on playing.

Well unlike 3 of the 4 other posts under you here I feel your pain. I truly can't remember if I had read this was a possibility (little to none of our work put in moving to next game) or I was just assuming but for this reason I stopped a couple months ago at 397 light. Like you I have almost everything and also like you this has really hit hard. I was one of these destiny freaks who loved the lore and watched tons of lore vids and would delve into the grimoire cards. A day one beta player who hardly played another game lol. Even though every game has its lifecycle we were told from the beginning that destiny would be a ten year affair. An epic journey unlike any that had ever come before. So yeah, we want blood sweat and tears to carry over. Those of you who don't care obviously haven't done every challenge of every raid. Or been to the lighthouse. It's simple.. That all being said, I don't want to play this last tiny bit of new content. It all just makes me mad. Will I play destiny 2? Maybe... Once I read some reviews, watch some vids and see what direction the series is heading. Call it selfish, stupid, or whatever but I think I'd feel better if the game was just ending instead of basically being erased and started over.. Such a shame. Good luck to all you guardian's. I wish you all the best.

Pretty much, everything we did for the past 2 years was a waste of time. If you're like me the only reason to keep playing was collecting certain gear in preparation for Destiny 2. Some people will probably comment that having fun is the reason to play. Collecting gear knowing its going to be useless in 6months isn't fun. In addition you can have fun playing other games besides Destiny, Destiny is just pointless right now.

Well, I honestly don't mind a fresh start again. The issue about Destiny 1 was that every dlc had a short lived experience. If you achieved max light in year 1, you would typically breeze through the Taken King grind sincw you may have a well formatted team via clans. That is why Rise of Iron lasted for only 2 weeks or so. The light difference was only 65 light and with this newer progression system, it's a cake walk. If Bungie completely wipes the classes and every little thing, then it'll finally feel fresh hence why some people argue that Taken King felt fresh for once since they basically made year 1 irrelevant. It will induce a lot of salt for people since they'll miss having their god rolled things while for some of us, it'll be awesome. I can't really say much except for that my main account is FatTigerr so that is why I even felt like responding. I was here since year 1 on Xbox 360 to year 2 and 3 on Ps4. I've felt nearly the same when I heard that my favorite Her Benevolence and Messenger Adept was going to be useless, or near useless, once it came out. But hey....it'll be worth it later on right? Lengthy content... Let's do it.

They are still going to keep D1 playable for quite a while.

It's not about the destination. It's about the journey.

Edited by THANOS: 3/4/2017 1:53:35 PMOf course buying cosmetic items in a video game is wasting money.
-
They better not remove the old versions of the old raids they better not remove level 30 Crotas End versions they better not remove them in this spring update

I see what you mean and understand completely understand. I don't see why not have kiosks like now with these available. On the other side, it will be kind of nice to leave these things behind. Kind of like closing a good book after you finish it. It has its ups and downs. You invested a lot of time in it but it's done. They did say they will have a way of rewarding our time spent in destiny one. It is also still very early. It's possible they may still change this. These are, after all, just cosmetic items. Or are they?

Yes. A sequel, a new chapter in this journey through Destiny.

You'll get over it.

It's a video game. It's part of the digital lifecycle. It is meaningless in the end.
