so like everybody is doing nowadays, i too have been contemplating how to fix the ammo economy for Destiny 2, and here's my idea:
change the way ammo is segregated.
how exactly? make all ammo into new categories!
primaries are "small bullets", and now special ammo will ALSO be "small bullets".
small bullet types refresh ammo inventory upon respawn, so in both PVE and PVP, you will always have ammo for these types.
snipers and shot-guns use "medium bullets", and their spawn in amount is only a single magazine.
medium bullets will also persist upon death, but their ammo spawning will be much more scarce than special ammo currently spawns in the crucible (when you open the ammo crates, only YOU get ammo from them!) keeping these hard-hitting weapons as power weapons, but not quite as powerful as heavies!
heavy ammo is still "heavy", and functions the same as it currently does.
fusion rifles should get their own category of "energy" ammo, since their balance has been MUCH more dynamically different compared to its special brethren. this way, if fusions arent particularly powerful (as they are now), they can spawn in with an amount and even persist upon death, leaving their balance seperate from the much more polarizing snipers/shottys.
thats just a bit of a "simplified" version though.
making each gun use its own ammo type would be MUCH better for handling the ammo economy!
