Because of a certain incident this afternoon, I don't think I can trust any more game stores that buy your shit for cash. Not even the non-franchise owned ones.
I got crapped on over a deal today when I went to sell my old ps2 with all 26 of my games. (Memorize that number)
I did some research on what games I had that were rare. Like I'm talking about the .hack G.U. series. VERY rare stuff for 80-90$ each.
I went to the store that got recommended to me by my friend, and I took a look inside to see plenty of happy faces.
I walk up to the counter, place my stuff on there and tell them I want to sell all of it.
I give them a few minutes to look at it and come up with a good round number.
What did they say? 10 GODDAMN DOLLARS.
Because apparently there was an issue with the disc tray for my ps2, nothing major at all, just that the cover of the tray needed to be tapped to make it open up faster. They wouldn't take the system in. But they'd take all my games and the controllers for just 10$.
"Shocked" is an understatement.
"Furious rage of the gods" is about as close as it gets.
I told them "you realize which games I've got...right?"
They knew. But they stood by thier offer.
I'm thinking either this guy is clueless about games are or he just doesn't care and wants to play me for a sucker.
I told them to give me my stuff back, that this was bullshit and that they missed a good opportunity.
I'm thinking I'd have better luck on Kijiji or Craigslist, cause those asshats don't know value when they see it.

You tried to sell something with no realistic value with the intention of getting its worth in sentimental value. Even if the ps2 games are rare, they are really only valuable to collectors at this points they would have 0 luck selling said games to your average Joe that walks in to get xb1 and ps4 games. The console as well is something that most people wouldn't even consider purchasing at this point. If you want to make the amount of money You expect off of them, you have to sell them yourself to willing collectors. This means it could take weeks, if not months to sell them to the right people, but it's really the only way to sell something with only sentimental value.
