"Malone, I've been meaning to talk to you about the House of Wolves: they have escaped with their new kell, Skolas." Malone just chuckled.
"I know, Vesrik. Everyone knows." I was little concerned; this is a big issue, that any Reef-goer should be worried about.
"This isn't funny, Malone. The Wolves are dangerous; they will come for your little spaceport." Unless... they already have. "Have you come in contact with the Wolves, Malone?"
Malone smiled and said, "The Wolves did come by, yes. But you shouldn't worry about me; I made a deal that will keep Wolf activity out of this zone for good."
"Malone, you know the Wolves can't be trusted! They have been known to break treaties before, you think they will follow yours? Besides, what could you give Skolas that would have him leave you alone?"
Malone smirked and said, "The House of Scar." I stood there, confused for a second, but then I realized what he meant: the Wolves are here.
I heard guns being cocked back from behind me, knowing who. Anger bubbled up from within.
"You're a traitor, Malone. I'll have your arms before the end of this!" I hear a familiar voice from behind.
"I don't think you will, Vesrik." I turn around to see Wolf royalty: Falis, nephew of Skolas. "You see, I have security all over the port. Once I have you, I have your ketch as well."
I sneered at the baron. "My House is better than to surrender to the likes of the Wolf Pack. We will not bow to your 'Kell of Kells'."
"Oh, but you will! Or we make your House an example. Not that it matters, seeing what slime you have brought aboard the Scarship: Humans, Awoken, Exos. Not meant to be a part of an Eliksni House!"
I challenge back, "Every crewman aboard that ship pulls his own weight, and that is what a House requires. At least I don't listen to a false prophet, heretic!"
Falis and the Wolves standing with him were taken aback, angry. "Fool! You will except Skolas as the Kell of prophecy or perish!"
"Don't move, either of you! What are your names?" The Eliksni growled at us.
"My name is Valerie. The other's name is Dennis Rager." I did not know what to expect.
The Eliksni clicked, "Alright, turn around but keep hands up, yes?"
I turn around to see four vandals, fur around their neck and teal armor. The House of Wolves had arrived at Heathen's Port. How could this happen? I thought to myself.
Rager looked at me worryingly. I tell him, "Don't worry, we will get out of this."
The Wolf vandal laughs and says, "I beg to differ. When Falis has taken something, he doesn't loosen his grip."
Falis is here? I thought. He is Wolf royalty, nephew of Skolas. Dangerous, works with brutal contempt. The vandal might be right.
The vandal looked at us and said, "You are coming with us. We already have your kell, and now we have all of House Scar leadership, yes?"
Zatkis. They must have not boarded the ketch. I thought to myself.
I smirked and said, "I think you missed one, actually. The most important, next to Vesrik." Baiting them is our best chance.
The Wolf vandal looked with curiosity. "Who, Reef-born?"
"The heir to Scar's throne. Vesrik's nephew holds the ketch. Unfortunately, he's in stealth." I was enjoying this. Zatkis must know the Wolves are here; he might have already formulated a plan.
The Wolf vandal looked taken aback. "House Scar belongs to Skolas! Skolas is heir to all thrones! We will find your last senior officer, and take your ketch, ye-"
An explosion goes off in the hangar, knocking us all back. Before the vandals recover, I see Rager take his pistol and kill them.
Rager turns to me and says, "Valerie, we have to leave. Wolf reinforcements will come and... whatever hit us might too."
"Not without our kell! Plus, that might be Zatkis!" Rager went up to the hangar window to point at a Wolf ketch.
"I don't think Zatkis would shoot at Heathen's Port when the Wolf ketch is the problem. Someone else is here, Valerie!" The Ceres Galliot, my reward, was still intact. I thought for a second whether to leave... or save my kell that would have saved me.
I shook my head. "We're saving Vesrik. We cannot let the Wolves have him, who knows what Skolas would do to him." I shudder at the thought of who, no, what, Skolas might gift him to.
We turn to see a ship fly by, and realize who made the explosive go off in the hangar.
"The Queen is here." I shudder at the thought of her Harbingers, cutting through Heathen's Port, killing all of us. We have to get Vesrik fast, before the Awoken decide to take such drastic measures.
