One of the writers said "-blam!- white people" on Twitter. I think he's a writer.
Is it really that bad? I hear people are cancelling their Netflix because of it. Seems like an overreaction to me.
Anyway discuss but keep it friendly.

The guy is a writer on the show

It got them a TON of free publicity and advertising, and a whole bunch of people are gonna watch outta pure curiosity, so in the end, I'm pretty sure Netflix got the last laugh

I have apathy towards the show. I not gonna watch it, so I don't particularly care at all.

Edited by xDeFalt: 2/13/2017 4:00:03 AMEvery time I see anything like this being directed at white people, my first thought is how much media attention it would get(if it even made it to Netflix, but who the hell are we kidding?) if it were white people talking about literally any other race. Then I think immediately after, how white people dont pull the race card, whine or bitch about garbage like this, even though most of the racist shit happening now a days is directed at white people, but is deemed totally ok because, let's face it, in this day and age, only white people are racist. But hey, it's totally logical for people who never experienced REAL racism to demand special treatment from people who didn't DO anything, based on the experience of other people who did experience REAL racism from people who DID something. Cuz race is the real reason for every action in the world, right? I mean really, race is the most important reason to treat people certain ways, right?
-blam!-ing hate this generation of people, whiny little pricks
Meh idc. They should make a dear black people. I imagine it going like this. Dear black people, you should've stayed slaves.
-
Dear black people I want my bike back.
-
Stupid whites
-
People are too offended is the problem.
-
That first episode am i right? So messed up.
-
Apparently it's satirical. I'll reserve judgement til it comes out.

I have no problem with it. Stuff like this is the reason Trump won. I'm just surprised that people think that this kind of thing will deter another 4 years of Trump when in my opinion, it will ensure it.
-
Thing is if this show were about any other group not only would it never air, But SJWs would crawl up their ass and ruin their life. But od course because it's ok because it's about white people. That's what identity politics gets you
-
I think it is getting such a big, negative response because you could not make a show like this that was reversed. People are getting tired of it & the backlash is getting stronger with each thing of this nature, show or otherwise. Personally, I could not care any less. It is a show, I will either watch it or I won't & no skin off my butt.
-
I don't think being offended by a show called "dear *race of* people" is an overreaction.
-
Its just a satire. Not meant to be taken too seriously.
-
Racism is racism, be it against black, white, gold, red, purple, green, metallic, etc.
-
Bad advertisement is still advertisement, in my opinion this is all show.
-
It's just all the special snowflakes on the right throwing a hissy fit. Granted, Netflix marketed this as a dogs ass. The movie it's based on is actually very interesting.

Edited by DELIVER ME MEMES: 2/13/2017 6:06:26 AMthe tweeted guy is a MINOR part of the show trying to pad his resume, the actual writer of the show is the guy who wrote the movie that they're adapting the show from, who happens to be a gay black man with a white significant other. all discussion about this topic is dishonest and biased from the get-go if they're only mentioning the one dude instead of the actual writer and the point of the show, which is that it is an expose on problems and stereotypes enforced by communities. PDS talked about this in a fair and unbiased manner that everyone debating this needs to see before they talk about it so they can have an educated viewpoint.
-
It's based off a 2012 satirical comedy about race relations. It's not promoting white genocide or anything.
-
Reminds me of our world Shows like this are fine and not racist st all, but if a black man is rushing at a cop and the cop shoots them in self defense they're horrible Black lives matter, by whites don't Good idea societu
-
The only thing I can think of when I read many of these comments is
conservative tears
-
The trailer also doesn't tell us much about the content of the show.
-
I just don't care. It looks dumb, so I just won't watch it. I'm not going to cancel my subscription because of it. Obviously I can't judge the show because I haven't seen it (we all know how deceptive trailers can be). I've heard that the movie it's based on isn't as racist as this show appears to be, so maybe they're just marketing it like that to get a reaction. Granted the reaction has been mostly negative, but I've heard a few people say that they wouldn't have even heard of the show if everyone hadn't reacted so loudly to it, so in a way, the boycotters could be helping Netflix by getting them free marketing.

Are you sure he's a writer for the show? IMDB only has Justin Simien listed as writer
