Hello Guardians =) I need some informations about 3oC and I hope, as always, in your help.
So, every week, if Xur doesn't bring anything of my interest, I usually buy 100 or more 3oC and I simply activate it everytime I can. When I kill an Ultra, 3oC get scaled and then I immediately replace it with another one. Easy. I active only 1 3oC.
Every day I try to do a sort of... uhm... "Ultra Rush"? I go in the Cosmodrome and I active the Execution Patrols trying to get the "Troll Patrol" or the Taken's Patrol to kill Falsek. Going around for The Divide I also usually kill Darnu that is pretty easy to get down. So I have 3 Ultra in a very small Area and that's good for me. Normally doing this I get an Exotic avery... 9-10 3oC but this is very realtive.
Now, in theese days I've played with other guys and they told me that 3oC has some sort of "hidden mecchanincs" like a cool-down of 10-15 minutes, a strange rapport of the number of Coins you spend and how many 3oC you buy ecc ecc. I really didn't get this... so... can someone please give me some explanation about?
Thanks!

Three of coins is a small package of disappointment. A few have a golden cookie in them so I guess they're ok...

That "cooldown" is a complete lie, someone on the forums tested it extensively a few months back and actually got exotics more often when they didn't wait.

Players who swear that there is a cool down are believing in a myth. It's all down to rng. You can still farm a boss but you will not get a drop every time. I used to farm a certain kell... Received an exotic every 5 coins. As it only takes 18 seconds to kill him but I would stop at 20 coins as it gets boring ( I only wanted the boots for my warlock)

The following is 100% factual, and exactly how 3oC works. Anything else is misinformation and baseless speculation. 3oC improves the chance of an exotic dropping upon the defeat of an ultra, or the completion of any non private match of Crucible. When one is burnt up, if no exotic was granted, the next 3oC used will increase your chances marginally further. And so on until an exotic drops. You should rely on luck over the increase chance provided though as it really is negligible. As soon as the exotic is dropped, it resets to the original drop chance bonus provided from 3oC, and there is NO cool down time at all. Never was, at any point. The best way to farm exotics is the Black Garden mission. You get 3 easy to kill bosses, and can reload the mission after killing them to spawn back at the same checkpoint. The most lucrative farming method however is strikes as you also get other high light drops, and horde chests to open. Depending on your needs, choose whichever of the two options is best for you.

Iv heard once... if you are farming on a strikes.. after the exotic engram drops ..doint pick it up.." This will effect the dropp rate" let it go to the post master.I connot conferm if this works, although the theory does makes sense. " Tricking the system into thinking it did not drop."

There is a hidden cooldown to prevent people suiciding after killing the boss and having infinite back-to-back ultra encounters. The most efficient use of 3oC is in strike playlists, where the 3oC bonus stacks with the playlist bonus. The drop rate there is roughly 1 in 5. The method you're using might net more exotics per hour, but uses more 3oC in the process. Personally, I prefer using 320 strike playlists.

Yeah word is there is a cool down time for 3oC as for me? i drop them like every other vanguard run or every other ultra i go against i always drop them on a raid, sometimes i will in the crucible before a match anyway hope i helped a little.

There is no cool down period. In the early months after 3oC became available the cool down period was a theory that was widely circulated. Since then it has been proven many times that no waiting is required. You can confirm this for yourself by farming bosses.

I don't think popping them in rapid succession does anything to your chances of getting a exotic, however if you do get a exotic 3oc has a lesser chance of a exotic next pop, so after getting 1 wait 10-15 min then pop another but until then use as many as possible

Back near the end of 2015 Bungie confirmed the cooldown. The cooldown only decreases the effectiveness of 3oC though. So you can still get exotics during the cooldown, it's just less likely. So I've found farming to be quicker with respect to time investment but waiting for the cooldown yields more exotics for the same number of coins.

Research this question and anything else you want to know on reddit.....where you'll find infinitely more useful information and infinitely less b.s.

There is a invisible "cool down" on them so basically if you pop a 3oC and use it the next one you use will have less of a chance to drop a exotic for the next 15 minutes the chance gets higher and higher until the 15 minutes are up and it's back to normal
