With another tuning patch about to be announced, it will be interesting to see once more the effects of the PvP balancing on PvE play. Should the modes be separated or should Bungie continue to cling to the notion of wanting our weapons to perform the same in both modes?

The #destinytruthcast is a Bnet #feedback forum community podcast hosted by members of the community and featuring community members as guests.
The podcast was started to give everyday guardians a chance to do something they would probably never experience by being on a podcast and to give them the opportunity to have not just their thoughts, but their voices heard by Bungie as they discuss the game.
Beyond that, it's allowed us to get to know the voices and personalities behind the gamertags we see on the forums and get to know each other in a way not possible in anonymous words on a page.
We aren't here to endorse or tear down Bungie or Destiny, but to give honest, balanced talk on this game. Thank-you and maybe we'll see you on an episode.

Welcome to episode 38 of the #destinytruthcast where you the community join us in talking all things Bungie and Destiny. Today RedWingGirl and I are joined by returning bungie.net forum guest IronBill and a new community guest, x614hamstercatX

I've listened to quite a few of these. You guys do a thorough job, and IronBill had a lot of nice points, kudos. Just wanted to throw my two cents at a couple things. The original Vex Mythoclast legit broke the game. I recall one match in particular. I was playing skirmish with two friends and our team of three got matched up against three randoms. One of the randoms had a Vex. This was obviously back in the early stages of the game when seeing a Vex was uncommon. I remember my team and I were playing a lot of crucible back then, I still do today. Anyways, it wasn't just that the Vex was strong, it was overwhelmingly dominant. You could maybe get off two hand cannon shots before being melted by the Vex. My team ended up just barely winning the match, but it was only because we could team-shoot the Vex and his teammates were trash. My point: certain weapons are strong today and can almost always win in a one v. one scenario, but the old school Vex could almost take out an entire team of three by itself. When Red Wing said that all weapons should be relegated to a vanilla status and pretty much be identical I couldn't have disagreed more. People play this game for different reasons. Red Wing plays for certain armor drops and her quest for tier 12. I did the same until I got there. I also play for loot drops. Getting different weapons in Destiny is one of the reasons I continue to play. Diminishing that aspect and taking away what makes weapons fun to use in general would make me put this game down for good. It already lacks variety and the loot system is beyond terrible, but that's a different discussion all together. I do realize that everyone is entitled the their opinion, but when hamstercat said that we should learn to accept Destiny as it's presented to us I literally laughed out loud, ha. Bungie has strived for a community-first game, and desires to showcase all of our accomplishments in their weekly tributes. They've given us a voice and have made us a large part of this game. By making us such a focal point, we all wish for Destiny to be better than what it is. Standing idly by and watching Destiny devolve from something so many of us loved just isn't in the cards. We care too much because Bungie has continually encouraged us to, and this has resulted in harsh criticism at the way Bungie has more or less neglected this game for so long. Accepting some of the mistakes that continue to plague this game just isn't possible anymore. We know how much fun Destiny can be and want to see it get there again. And, at this point, if by some miracle a majority of us continue on to Destiny 2 we refuse to allow Bungie to get away with making the same mistakes in the next installment as they did with the first. We want better things from this game and Bungie has encouraged us to not only seek it but expect it. Accepting mediocrity is not an option.

We all know the gasp was going to get nerf especially how cause of modded controllers being able to fire it like a dot what surprised me the most was no nerf to fusion grenades so those are still going to be used above all the other grenades. The hand cannon one has me worried cause now we might see snipe body shots and when one tap with a hand cannon from the same distance. Does kind of piss me off sniper in my view still needs a scope time nerf and a sway nerf put in if your going to make shot guns a stand and deliver gun you might as well make sniper and camp and deliver gun too I mean it's unfair that they can move like that while in scope and no penalty even when going up and down stairs. Although I like that idea redwing I think they could of done it a better way rather than just changing the whole game every 6 months like perhaps giving us a bounty where we if to get 100 pulse rife kills, 50 sidearm kills, and 25 sleeper slimitant kills in a week would probably be change enough. They act like they want balance and they try to achieve it when why do they go and throw it out the window after 6 months makes no sense to me but hey perhaps it makes sense to them. personally I been noticing stats don't make a difference even if you have perks to increase the range on your pulse rife or the stability on your auto rife it does not make that much of a difference and it should I mean what the point of having stats if the gun is still as easy to control with out them or still has the same drop off without them take pulse rife for instance you can have 1 cm of range still has the same drop off as one with 3 cm of range now that just tells me that there something that is wrong and needs fixing cause why would you go out and grind for a better one if that one is just as good as any other it makes it pointless in a game which wants you to go out and grind every week cause that's why they took out reforge although this does allow me to use any handcannon I want again and not if to worry about ghost bullets just cause I only have 1 cm of range on my gun and not 3 which again make no sense before we had a reason to grind for ensluna with rifed barrel now we don't if to care about that and it just makes no sense to go and throw that reason to grind out the window you might as well just bring back reforge. The new one where death means you lose your speaical seems kind of hard cause their will be no more self res shotgun and seems like a penalty to people who get killed a lot I'm just going to go around fusion grenade everyone instead of shotguning them just get 70 kills in a match using fusion grenades that next target for me lol but they have not thought this out what they should of done is lower the cap in pvp to 6 bullets only and once you come across a box it only gives you 2 in pvp this might of stopped people constantly going around with special but doing this is unfair to all those people who die cause now we won't be able to take down supers and it makes it harder we will see a lot of people using icebreaker and ineffective just cause of this and it's a shame that they choose to do this and not being out a 200 kills with primary bountie just to get a lengendry each day which is what I would of done in the first place. It's funny that they nerf blade dancer like that yet leave storm caller armour the same I mean come on there has been times when I've thrown everything including two stickies at them and there still alive and yet they choose to nerf blade dancer even though they if to be close to use if not 40 foot away like storm callers good to know I can still go on a game changing 8 kill streak with my stormcaller but not able to do that on anything else One thing I love about the posts this week is the get the top 1 % to give you help on the patch they would do it better than them and the answer is bungie would never do that cause that is admitting that just cause their the top 1 % they are better than making a patch than the people who have been making patches and bungie would never pay people to make a patch who do not work for them it would be like asking dice to make a patch for them. Plus their all ego people the top 1 % who would make a game better for them their probably unnerf sniper make scope time less allowing one shot kill on all snipers and that would totally mess it or for the casual players and at the end of the day bungie would rather lose a 1% players than risk losing all the rest just cause the game is not for them any more. I totally agree with you on that about people who say these people who did the patch can't play. Although halo 5 maybe consider the best pvp I agree it's like comparing Apple to oranges we have all this great stuff and yet they choose to achieve balance thats I have this thing about balence in the subclasses is why brother trying to achieve balence when there is no such thing as balence in life. Life is unfair to some so why should a game be fair take dark souls for example they don't care that 65% of people don't have the skill to play there game they don't care that only 25% in the world have the skill to compete their game and they are loved for it so all this balence between the subclass for pvp I say throw it out the window now balence for grenades and guns I say keep on missing with it we need balence in them so called me out on that but I put my foot down and stand my ground. The sunbreaker needed to be nerfed you could throw rockets into it and he would still be alive and kicking you could throw nova bombs at it and he would survive it need the nerf now what they should of done was instead of kills giving 100% of your health back and allowing it to fill the health bar meter to say that's 100% was wrong way of putting it in they should of done each kill gives you 250 health back out of your 500 health total so that if the game glitches you don't continue to regain health which is the problem with Ampuichewed on striker Titan regain your health when you melee kill someone so changing bladedancer so it works like that I can see a point but not changing ampututie as well I don't see the point so both should be change or not change at all plus hunter's have always been at a disadvantage cause no heavy ammo on exotic chest plates. I do agree that when too came out the whole form changed for the worst and these last two years there's been a dourght of stuff to do between January and April which should never of happened they needed to keep people playing hopefully d2 sorts that out I agree what is so hard about updating the light level behind these raids but redwing has told me why they didn't brother before was cause they want people to do the latest raid is a shame that only 25 of the people who own roi have done the raid the hardest thing I ground was taking down the ocales and using the relic cause only like 2 knew how to use the relic and it would never teleport those people so we would if to wipe again and I kind of miss that plus vog on PS4 looks awesome. My most bad arss moment was doing flawless raid on crota I already have it but my clan mates needed the trophy they were like well no one can do the lamps I said I can do the lamps easy I'm worry about the bridge they when asked me how I said I got a new thing which I haven't tried I'm going to do it on sunbreaker Titan with Mida they like nah do in blade dancer and I never nope I'm doing it sun breaker and I did it and all long my clan were saying stuff like he's not going to it we will hear a guardian down soon and they didn't hear it we when did the bridge legit and when I took the sword and they said no way you can't sword on Titan I said have done before and I'll do it again although this took a few tries of me not being greedy I did on the third try even though each time I needed to run the lamps again solo I did it each time without dieing and when I took down cotra I felt bad arss and here there playstation thropy achieve through the mic was great and I did it on Titan. But last iron banner doing a game changing 8 kill streak on storm caller where I supered and cause I killed everyone we won the match also felt great. Favourite moment of the week a raid run where aksis glitched and did a slam in front mid just after the damage step killing two people and competely ruined our raid attempt so thanks bungie for that reusing a spider tank for aksis was a bad idea cause he still has moves.

Edited by WINTER PROPHET: 2/9/2017 11:03:19 PMWas there ever any change to Bungies general statements they "can't separate PVP and PVE weapon changes from eachother in game"? Cause they do it every time they implement any "damage modifier codes for nightfalls"... They just title them elemental burns. **shrug Edit: Example: An elemental burn is an increase in damage on a weapon that has an element we all know this. If a weapon is running arc burn, the code increases the damage on that weapon and players are informed via the titles and info panels. **they demonstrated this even in nightfalls by lessening player elemental burns down to 200% while enemy elemental burns were left at 300%, if long term players remember that (Newer players may be unfamiliar with this change that occurred). Weapons that don't have correct element burns on other elemental enemy shields do LESS damage than it's similar type. Point: Only reason we are aware of these is because of the titles and visual effects. Both code. If Bungie wanted a shotgun in PVE to do more than in PVP to other players, they could apply the burn code (change the damage modifier) to one and not the other in the game types minus the titles/info panels... Hence.... They could have been separating PVP and PVE damages all along. Like they had been in nightfalls. Laters.✌🏻;️ Edit for TLDR: Game mode: nightfall Code applied:arc burn 200% (example) Effect: does more damage Game mode: PVE Code applied: no elemental burn Effect: none Result: if Bungie can modify damage for nightfall game mode outside of standard PVE/PVP they can modify it for both without the info panels they've been doing it since launch.

Edited by Carlous Scopalo: 2/8/2017 6:15:29 PMThis topic has is a mixed bag of thoughts for me. I do not like that PVP balance decisions and changes have negatively affected PVE for sure. But I also understand Bungie's goal of keeping a unified sandbox which is really one of the unique things that defines the game and keeps me playing. Changes to sniper ammo really affected raid experiences negatively so I would prefer a situation where some changes are just PVP only. They have already shown they can do this as demonstrated with the PVE damage boost to shotguns and pulse rifles. In terms of balance regarding how many shots kill a guardian vs a yellow bar minion of the darkness (mentioned in the podcast)....I do not see a problem with that as this is taken care of in the lore of the game and we need to keep in mind the interaction of light against the darkness. More directly though, power level does come into play and it works the same way in PVP as it does in PVE. "Destiny is not defined by buffs and nerfs......It is defined by me and you and how we decide to play the game" Anyway. just keeping it short... (I think). Loved the podcast by the way.

Weapons being weak in pve at this point is absolutely by design at this point. Why: because the raid content in this game ain't hard. Not even a little bit. So now we have a bunch a false difficulty by them handing us pea shooters and throwing hordes of yellow bar enemies at us. The hardest thing about the raids in this game is getting a group of people who have an attention span larger than a gold fish to get it done. That's why I flat out stopped doing raid content. In games like where people are forced to group together to get things done there are 2 types of people: The "Haves" Who are willing to put and the work get shit done and get what they want no matter how long it takes, and the "Have nots" who either don't have the time (which is understandable) or who simply wish to put in the bare minimum effort and have the world handed to them. I totally understand having stuff out there that's comparable but don't nerf or change the endgame rewards simply because a hand full of players can't get their hands on them and feel slighted. PVE players where putting in work and where justly rewarded with power THEY EARNED. They went in the crucible and wrecked shop because they earned the right to do so ya know, because they put in work...now I have a bunch of end game rewards that simply aren't even worth having when they should be top tier options across the board for every event.

Edited by RavenousLD3341: 2/8/2017 7:10:46 PMOK. So I've had a listen..... Here is how i generally view weapon balance. You have Close/Medium/Long ranges. Each range has a sub set of weapons that are extremely powerful inside of those given ranges. For example. Close
Autos Sidearms Shotties
Medium
Pulse Rifles Fusion Rifles
Long
Scout Rifles Sniper Rifles
There are what I believe to be hybrid weapons. Close/Medium
Handcannons Heavy Machine Guns
Medium/Long
Rocket Launchers
In a perfect world. Close range weapons wouldn't be beat by a long range weapon, when used at close range. (Just apply this statement recursively to all ranges respectively.) I believe also, that every weapon archetype should have it's intended role. Meaning... Bullet hose autos.....
should be best used when hip sprayed at extremely close range, with intention to compete directly with a shotgun.
Mid rate of fire autos Longer range than bullet hose, able to out DPS the bullet hose at a longer distance due to drop off from bullet hose. and so on and so on. In destiny Weapon archetypes there are no clear roles for them. Nearly every auto is the same. with respect to DPS and drop off. Also, the special and heavy weapons have 2/3 the TTK of all primaries. (meaning that an average primary is .8-1sec average special/heavy is .5-.7) This is why they are favored. Primaries are pathetically weak when compared to all other weapon slots. This is why we need to buff them. I'm OK with the variance in TTK on primaries, but they need to flat out kill guardians faster. Map size is a huge issue. On maps like the ones you see in combined arms, there is a very different subset of weapons that are effective there. I went 21-0 with a Hand of Judgement. Snipers are more skill based, because they are actually sniping at sniper ranges. You can actually see the damage drop off from your beloved Clever Dragon. Everyone's fighting style has a role, and it's amazing to play combined arms. Easily my favorite crucible mode. As for the rest of the crucible maps. Scout range? negligible Pulse Rifle range? negligible Sniper rifle range? negligible The maps aren't big enough to see the drop off, and high rof pulses can compete with autos at close range/ other pulses at mid range/ and scouts at long range. It's not the weapons fault in this instance, it's the map's fault. It's also true that nearly every weapon change is because of PvP. There are no PvE advocates. Except for the good ol forum folks. It really is a problem. RWG pointed out the special ammo nerfs. This literally had no effect on PvP, at all. However, had a massive impact on PvE. Clearly that change didn't hit it's intended audience. Also, when was the last time you used a Shotgun in a strike? I think last time I did it was when they had that 100% damage buff back in year one. It was amazing. Handcannon reserve ammo is pathetic, and varies wildly between hand cannons... even in the same archetype. (Fever and Remedy vs. Hawkmoon) you can maybe carry 80 rounds with Hawkmoon, and over 100 with Fever and Remedy. Who the hell said "Handcannons clearly have tooooooooooo much reserve ammo" Now you know what I have to use for maximum sustainability? High impact scout. They have enough reserve ammo. Do you know how many weapons are completely useless in PvE? Seriously... look in your vault and think really hard about what you actually use in strikes. For me.... High Impact handcannon (Usually first curse)/ High impact Scout (Chaos Dogma) Sniper (I use fusions on burns) HMG (too many accidents with rockets) There are only 2 pulse rifles I use. 1. Outbreak Prime 2. Steel Medulla That's because their perks are very PvE oriented and given the correct situation, extremely effective. I only use 1 auto Genesis Chain, and I only use it in Crota's End for the lamps, it's a great thrall clearing gun. That's it folks. Nearly every other weapon is completely worthless for killing anything besides guardians. EDIT
Just left the stream. It was pretty pathetic.... yet again. "We don't want to nerf anything" 2 seconds later.... "Here's all the shit we nerfed" Shotguns were hit again, removed precision damage (which is something battlefield did a long time ago, so that's a pretty good change), reduced accuracy etc. They removed the movement penalty, so that's nice. Universal Remote scored it's own nerf.... again.... for literally no reason. "too potent" they said. bah. High RoF pulse rifles scored a slower RoF. The entire class of weapon had a base flinch nerf, and the effect of HCR is reduced. Low RoF pulses got a RoF increase (which still won't be enough) Hand cannons had an accuracy reset back to year 1, however....... Damage drop of starts sooner, and damage drop off now drops further. Meaning that it used to drop to .5(%max_damage%) now looks more like .25(%max_damage%) so some give and take there. Auto rifles scored a .05% (lol) precision damage buff. So that's nice. Not enough of a buff in my opinion, but hey... at least it's something. Once you die in PvP you lose all special ammo, curious how this will translate to PvE... poorly i'd imagine. (given recent history) All in all.... still no change in the pathetic TTK of primary weapons. nice try bungie... but you missed the mark again. I predict about 3 weeks of "Best crucible ever" "Great weapon variety" posts then the new meta will settle in and we will all be right back here complaining about the next best special weapon/ Primary weapon god combo. Crucible is predicted to be unplayable for people like me for 6-8 more months. Will follow up next week when final notes are released assuming they are actually correct (looking at you previously incorrect patch notes)
I love the title by the way that seems so true. I agree their is no point in raiding if you can just buy a better gun from the vendor that was one of the few good things about the first two raids the guns like black hammer, found vedeirt, corrective measure, fatebringer the fang and even the vision were all way better than anything you could buy and it made it worth going back in multiple times. I do agree some guns look and feel very different I love my full auto pdx in pvp it's great I do loved using hand cannons but every so often you get a ghost bullet and that can be unreliable moment when if I was using a scout I would of killed him. I totally agree redwing their is no point to rotate guns in pve and I have actually complained about this their is absolutely no reason to swap out a sniper for a fusion or shotgun cause the sniper there just that great, back in year one there was the pocket but their is no reason to do it now in pve. The only reason why handcannons were so good in year one was cause they could cross map you. the range didn't matter how much you had and that is the problem why is it on hand cannon and auto rife the range matters but on pulse rife and scouts it doesn't matter so much. I've seen people kill people from like 40 to 60 foot away with the clever dragon and yet hand cannons can't do that and hof autos can't do that but for some reason a pulse rife with the same range as those is on par with a scout I think I'm missing something but it's quite obvious that it shouldn't perform like that if it only has one cm range bar if the hand cannons and autos can't do that with a 1 cm range bar and that needs to be changed. They keep on tells us they want balance to me balance is pointless why should we have balance in a game when we don't have balance in real life? Life is unfair where is the balance patch for that? I totally agree with you sols if all guns are given the same ttk when people will use what ever is easiest to kill with. I agree that. Bungie just seems to be stretching out destiny just like rockstar is stenching gta. Thier is no point in doing the raid over and over again if the best gun of the game you get from a quest where is the point so what if people moan about balance this and balance that cause it's op they worked hard or got lucky you might as well just bring reforge back so we can all get god rolls with out having to grind for it which is another thing I never understood about bungie's idea with exotics year one they made it hard to get exotics year 3 excotic are so easy to get you hate when nightfall or shaxx gives them to you. I didn't see people doing 40 kill games unless they were lagging put up should kill ratio but during the thorn meta everyone was using it for everything their was no point to use anything else and that needed to be stopped. I have seen those games heck last iron banner I had a friend who did with the muti meta tool but when he was great and we brought him in with us when we were all o.8 to 1.2 and he's like a 3.2 so going in teams just throws sbmm out the window and he did something like a 45 to 18 game and we were like what the hell man and he was like I found a grove game guys usally I don't use the tool. Souls I would if to disagree with you certain guns do not have counters the only way to counter them is to pull out your one for example snipers the only way to counter it is to snipe yourself and the vex was like that until they nerfed it is was like a dot but had more range and it won in close quarters everytime but if you stayed out of close quarters you had a chance a small chance but still a chance most of the time I wouldn't have a chance and the other times lag would happen and I would die in cover anyway at that time the thorn could counter it but that was also hard to get so of cuase people just moan about with does pve give the best guns? But when if theirs no point in playing pve when your not going to play it. Redwing although I could agree with that in game everything villina and not allowing certain load outs and perks to matter in pvp it Would perhap drain a bit of the appeal and when if you couldn't use exotics in pvp what would be the point in them? Although I disagree with what your guest is saying as I have already said pulse rife with 1cm range should not be as good as the pulse rifes with 3 to 4 cm of range and something needs to be done. I agree that what they done is wrong taking guns or leaving guns behind is wrong but destiny 2 will be a compete reset their is just so meny things which are wrong with this game. No emote wheel or ammo sync short cut for example, no changing appearance, no armour reforge, all the glitchs the supers have like jugg stopping keyhole gg,Titan smash bring able to be knocked off couse with a melee attack while in the air, only being able to smash on the compass points and not being able to smash north east etc etc their is just so meny things that are wrong and that they not going to change they will just make a new game. Favourite moment I got dragged into too I usely don't play too cause if you don't get pubstomped which happens a lot when you get dossed this time I didn't get neither I actually had some good fun like twice when we 4 nil down and pulled it back rounds on my Titan when I was a wrecking ball sunbreaker and my favourite round was when I when hell Mary on a warlock who self res in the second round I swore to myself I Was not going to let him have brought out my hammers and let him have when turned on the other ghost and carried on shoting his ghost with my hand cannon just in case he self res too until the time went out. Only problem is that almost every match we had etheir a modded clever dragon or gasp user they were useing modded controllers so the gun would fire like a dot but with more range now this is another thing that needs fixing they need o.2 sec cool down time add between the shots so that the gun cannot do this cause a pulse rife should not act like a dot but with triple the range.

I guess you could say that the PVE Star was a Nemesis to PVP

Good podcast. Very happy that comment I made while on about weapons requiring different number of headshots to kill enemies and guardians stuck with yall. Weapons never perform the same in pve or pvp because enemies require different amount of headshots to kill. So the line Deej said "We dont want you to look at a weapon and ask why does this do this in pve and not pvp?" Only thing that applies to is perks. Time to kill is different for almost all enemies. Lets look at Scout Rifles Dregs and Thralls = 1 headshot Vandals, acoyltes, Goblins = 2 Headshots (In goblin case stomach shot) Knights = 3 Headshots Guardians 3-4 headshots Also another thing I want to bring up is what (Very sorry I couldnt remember who said it) about weapons and comparison to the flight sim game. Guns never really improved over the years. Its pretty much the same guns every year just different skins or new look. Unlike in that flight sim game where its clear jet fighters are a big improvement over WW2 planes. Here in Destiny its not that big of a deal when look at the guns besides light level. Sure some have some stat differences like Aim Assistance buts its nothing monumental. Also dont quote me on this but isnt Her Benevolence from year 1 still a very good sniper and beats some year 3 snipers? If we had weapons like the raid pulse from Crota that could shoot through Knight walls then Id understand better weapons but yet we dont have stuff like that. Put more weapons like THAT in Bungie. Weapons that affect enemies! Not weapons that increase reload speed or more armor with battle runner perk. Not saying those are bad just more stuff like the year 1 stuff.

Also, I know this has been said a million times, But yes pve and pvp should be separated in D2. Thats all I want....N online optional.

Edited by JimmyTheHand: 2/7/2017 4:54:16 PMHey Sols and RWG. Thanks again for a good listen and much appreciated for the work you put in for the cast. Completely agree with you on a lot of the points raised in the cast however my thoughts are from a person who played this game for PvE and gradually got more into the PvP game as the years went on. First off I love the PvE in the game. Never thought an FPS could get people to cooperate so well to get the job done. I live for challenges and hard gameplay and the raids have lived up to that in most instances with the odd mechanical design stumble in one or two sections (Mostly looking at you Dark Below). When I first got into PvP I was pretty bad, though I learned from my mistakes, learned the maps found my specialisation in Fusions because I can't snipe and am not that good at shotguns. A lot of my advances I owe to watching tutorials from people like True Vanguard and Sliq111. I can't emulate the playstyle of True Vanguard however the info he has for crucible makes you learn to erase bad habits and what good players look for to get their kills. I now consider myself an above average player. However I'm just not into this "Meta" business. I play for fun and when the mentality is that I "have" to use a particular weapon to keep up with other players, that ceases to be fun. Fair enough I don't follow that train of thought but a lot of the player base does to the point where your kill feed is skewed to the same four types of death. At the end of the day balancing is all well and good, we get a month of variety everytime it happens but then it settles back to this slump of unoriginality in Guardian loadouts to the point where I'm saying to my fireteam "Oh wow this guy is running Abyss Defiant and Midha's Reckoning, kudos to you sir" and yes I've said things like that..... but it's so rare. For me I have this idea that I may be happier if they just introduce a ranked playlist. It would go someway into removing all the, for the lack of a better word "tryhards", from most games and hopefully provide a more diverse arena of Guardians. It even speaks to another point RWG and Hamster were talking about in regards to the Queens armour and that it's stat points weren't good. I'm imagining this is in relation to that tier 12 setup that you can chase? However what if you don't care about that. My vault is near bursting because I have a problem with gear. It's not that I keep more than I should with things I never wear, it's that it's like a fashion show when I'm in the tower and before I get into a game. I have to be dressed for the occasion. My crucible armour loadout is 50% optimisation for orbs regen health, grenades increase super, armour boosted by subclass and increased speed on respawn/capture. Then 50% "damn that Jimmydahand killed me again, but I can't be mad when his Titan looks so badass"..... okay that might be a problem, but it all goes in to having fun. Why have all those distinct armour pieces if you're not gonna be individual right?

Great post once again. PvP caused pve players alot of hardships over the past 2.5 years. The one thing is that PvP for destiny is always going to be the main attraction with no need to add content (why rotating meta exists). That is up until they can prove themselves with a substantial story and player environment that evolves through the course of destiny 2. Love the emphasis on weapon feel, which is a topic never tread upon by bungie. Good job

Edited by DemonicDmouse: 2/6/2017 5:22:48 PMVex was not over powered, it was the fact that you had a full auto that could kill in 3 hits. Even with Vex people were still dying. Thorn was not over powered, it was the dot that killed people. Thorn by itself was still a 3 to the head. But the dot made it a two to the head. Fusions have never really been over powered. You still had charge time. The only fusion that was dangerous at that point was pocket. Last word same as thorn, full auto with range, across map. Plus a hip fire glitch right from day one. D2 better wipe away D1. Then maybe we can move away from the whining of weapons and wanting things back. No, wait.... still happen. Hand cannons are fine in PVE, PVP, yeah stupid. What is the need to two tap people? Might as well just make PVP a one shot for everything. These maps are not designed for the speed at which people can move and the weapons available. The only time I think I can truly say was a fun PVP experience. Combined Arms. PVE.. to repetitive. Overly good showing.
still highly disappointed in you.
I have to commend you on another Awesome Truthcast with some really good banter between the parties. You guys really do have your finger on the pulse of the community. That being said there are two things: Weapons and RedWingGirls concerns with leaving stuff behind. Shotguns need explosive or nano rounds that melt armor like a thorn DoT. Grenade Launchers that you can actually bounce off walls and or detonate at will. Sniper rifles that can penetrate Walls Maybe, I dunno, LET US PICK UP ALIEN WEAPONS. Or better yet. let us have alien weaponry as keepable arsenal. I would love for Dead Orbit to come out with a miniaturized version of Cabal Slug rifles. Or hell, let me make a huge character and Ill just beast the Normal sized Cabal weaponry. IF they want true variety, Ammo variations for weapons. the ammo could be element based but there needs to be enemies who are more vulnerable to plain ballistic like an Omni-shielded emery that has resistance to elements so regular bullets would do bonus damage and bypass their element shields. As for RedWingGirl: We as Guardians are immortal once our ghost finds us, (Saladin is hundreds of years old) I think what may happen is we get a distress call from the Tower. They are under siege, we get there but are overwhelmed aside from Shaxx saving us and letting us escape. We have no time to empty our Vaults before the Cabal Empire just Blue Beam of Deaths the tower. So we Naturally lose our stuff. Now cut to several hundred years later. We are still playing our characters but our armor is shoddy, weapons in our bags are failing. The weapon manufacturers cannot make weapons like they used to under the traveler with the Golden age tech and we are running for our lives. I feel that would be a decent beginning as to why we have to start from scratch. And I wouldn't mind. But if I am forced to make a new character then yeah I'm gonna be pissed. They need to put some thought into how we transition to D2.

Bump. Gonna listen to this later today. Lazers? Only if they are tied to a shark. Lol

I loved being on this podcast. I did fairly well for a first time on any podcast, but I need to improve on my fluency under pressure. Ask me any questions if there are knots or gaps in my answers from the discussions and I will get back to you as fast as I can. Ironbill is a truly phenomenal person, not one I will forget anytime soon.

I will say this. Bungie has shown in the past several times that they can in fact separate the weapon/ class balancing in June when they vastly increased Super damage for the better in PvE as well as the shotgun buff back in yr I. Because of this I'm honestly not sure why they don't continue to do this, if it's just them being lazy. Because Thorn worked really really well back before the April update and they nerfed it again. Sure it's still effective but it could be a lot better for PvE play. So frankly I'm not sure why they do this and start mixing in all nerfs and stuff that are made for PvP into PvE. Like that sniper flinch is still ridiculous. Trying to hit a boss with my Black Spindle and it's really hard to land shots. But that's just my two bits on the matter.

Weapons sharing the same sand box is absolutely acceptable as long as the only pervasive "meta" is weapons that come from either the Raid or from Trials. I should be able to take the weapons from the raid and out perform the vendor weapons in the crucible likewise, I should be able to do the same with the trials guns in the raid. Why should I go grind for a chaos dogma or a burning eye when I can just get a cryptic dragon as a random crucible drop with a better roll than both of those weapons? I should hear cries of agony as I lay waste to minions of darkness and people in the crucible who refuse to or have yet to clear the raid or get to the lighthouse, with my endgame weapons of mass destruction. The only other option on the table should be exotic weapons. At this point though there are far too many that are too easy to get. If I can only equip one, then why are they so mediocre. I typically don't double post but the road the weapons and rewards have been headed down has chapped my ass for a long time.

Edited by AnAnxiousNoob: 2/7/2017 6:47:08 PMI appreciate the reasons that some hardcore players do not wish to lose their weapons, armour and characters when Destiny 2 finally arrives. However unless this happens to the first two items then what we would be getting with Destiny 2 is a full priced DLC ( albeit a large DLC) for a game that we have already been playing for almost three years. It makes buisness sense for Bungie to try and sell Destiny 2 to the largest possible numbers of people, including those who did not play the original game, and trying to regain those players who stopped playing at some point in the past. If it caters for the hardcore by bringing forward gear from the past then it is in danger of losing the casuals who will be at a disadvantage. In my opinion, for whatever that is worth, fewer Casual players would buy it as a 'DLC' model than would buy it as a completely new game which pays homage to the original. I would bring the Mass Effect series to the table as an example of how storytelling and integrating characters and themes from game to game can be done well. Certainly those people who put in the time in Destiny could be rewarded with emblems or shaders or any other form of cosmetic item to acknowledge their dedication. My own view is that we have had hours of pleasure in playing and debating Destiny, that is all we can and should expect from a game. Edited to add that I totally disagree with removing gear within the life of an individual game that people have come to love.
