As you may or may not know, the majority of the Patriots supported Trump and vice-versa. And because of this information, the die-hard Hillary supporters rooted for the Falcons. This is the stupidest thing to come out of this election because POLITICS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SPORTS AND THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY EFFECT ON EACH OTHER. Trump winning has nothing to do with the Patriots' win and the Patriots' win means absolutely nothing about the future of this country. It's the super bowl, not the midterm elections. Let's hope this doesn't happen again next year.
Rant. Over.
I didn't like either of the candidates but I disliked Trump more. I also don't follow sports at all but after hearing that two of my friends had done just this really pissed me off.
Edit: lol at all the people who turned this into a Trump vs Hillary argument. This is exactly what is wrong with what I was talking about here. Bringing an argument into something that never needed it.

What's wrong with me?
-
How can a person dislike trump more than Hillary?

Edited by Grasp of Malok: 2/8/2017 5:58:27 AMWait, really? I wanted falcons to win (yet i don't mind trump) just because they were the underdogs against the Patriots, who won last year's super bowl.
also, i wanted a opportunity to make smartass jokes based on air Dream: shot to hell and teabagged
When the -blam!- did this political bullshit in the nfl come from? The depths of some websites asshole? What the -blam!- happened to "we go for this team and you guys go for that team and we have a entertaining back talk constantly"?
POLITICS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SPORTS AND THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY EFFECT ON EACH OTHER.
You should see what soccer is like.
-
Hi. You must be new to the NFL. For decades, literally no one BUT the Patriots and their fans like the Patriots. Everyone else has always hated them, regardless of political views. It's okay if you didn't know. Now you do. Bye now!

-blam!-ing liberals
-
And I'm just sitting here, still mad about Dallas losing to Green Bay
-
in addition to the massive amount of liberal tears we already have, the Patriots give us even more liberal tears. it's so great. I never even sat through a whole football game and I like the Patriots now. and it seems like every passing day liberals manage to pass a new benchmark for hyperbole
-
I rooted for the falcons simply because I really hate the patriots it had nothing to do with politics
-
Inb4MaxGetsTriggeredBecauseHeDidThisToo
-
I rooted for the Falcons because they were the underdogs. It had nothing to do with my dislike of Trump.
-
But...Patriots are blue! PATRIOTS ARE BLUE!
-
My god people are stupid and will attach politics to any and everything I was for the Falcons because they're my home team. I'm guessing the word patriot is now a trigger word these morons don't understand that when a president fails the country fails. I don't agree with everything Trump does but I hope he has a successful term in office so that this nation can prosper.
-
I voted for no one, since I could care less about the super bowl, and sports in general
-
Well, now since everyone and their mother reveals their political views (celebrities, athletes, companies, entertainers, Youtubers etc.) I would only expect backlash. If you don't want to be judged on your political views then keep them to yourself. If the Pats want to show support for the Don and have MAGA hats then they better expect people who don't agree with the Orange Man Baby to not like them. What's it to them? What's it to you? I didn't like Tom before his political views because he's a dirty cheater. Being a Trump supporter only cements my hatred. He's a cheater and thinks he's perfect just like Orange Man.
-
Didnt even know this was a thing. I must have missed the memo. I felt the same way about red cups and my environmental protection.
-
Who connected these together and why?
-
The Pats don't support Trump because of their political views, they support Trump because they knew that he was connected to KEK. Think about it. Tom Brady has won his fifth superbowl, on the fifth round, on February fifth. That's a trips right there. Trump has unimaginable power.
-
My dad HATES trump but he's still a huge patriot fan.
-
That's so stupid. It's football. Root for the team you think is statistically better, your local area, or reasons like that. What does politics have to do with throwing a ball?
-
Agreed.
it still sucks that the patriots won
-
lmao I support the patriots and Hillary while despising trump
-
Preach it
