Ok so I have been playing Destiny, competitive Destiny, COD and other FPS on PS4 for a long time now. I have a gaming YouTube channel "Breaking The 4th Wall", I stream on Twitch "reckless_bt4w", and I am a father with young kids so I def need a wireless headset. The reason why I'm telling you this is so you know what I am using the headsets for. I currently have the TB Elite 800 and have used it since it's release. Back then the Astro a50's were terrible and a lot of people still preferred the a40's over the a50's. I know because I used them, however since the a50's original release Astro have made serious improvements and ones that I like. I am not entirely sure if Astro is on the 3rd gen or 4th gen a50's but if you know please let me know in the comments. I would like to know from people who have used both headsets which one you feel is better. Please no fanboying. I am looking for honest opinions and not just what everyone else likes. If you would like to know more about my YouTube or Twitch channel let me know.

Edited by Cheshire Cat: 1/23/2017 8:37:01 AMJust looked them up. 300 -blam!-ing dollars? On a pair of speakers and plastic? What separates them from the $50 pair that I've been using for over a year with no problems?

Ever heard of Audio Technica? I have the ATH-ADG1X and I haven't looked back at astro or any other :D ( I do use the mix amp from astro though :D)

I have the TB 800 had for a few years and pretty solid for total wireless soloution. They started -blam!-ing up lately when I got the PS4.5 but may just be old and need to be replaced. Been pretty solid though I never had tried the astros. Always been a TB buff

Edited by ChEmIcAl_KeEn: 1/21/2017 11:28:57 PMHad the turtlebeach px4 loved em after 3 years broke. Didnt really look after them. Thought id try the astros but keep reading about speaker problems and other faults. Like low mic volume. So thought id go cheaper and grab the ps4 headset. Sold them after a week coz they are rubbish. Tried the hyper X , abit better then the ps4 ones but no options to change things so after two days i boxed them back up stuck them in the cupboard and got The Turtle Beach Elite Pro with the amp and I love them. Had them a few months now. Worth every penny! Abit more expensive but seeming as I game 40hrs+ a week might aswell get a comfortable great sounding set

I own two Astro A50 headsets, purchased in 2015 and 2016. They are excellent for sound quality and comfort. Gamers have told me the microphone sound quality is perfect -- something I had expected from my own tests. The negative reports you read about the A50 are very outdated. Astro fixed the problems with the A50 long ago. In regard to choosing the A50 or the 800, it can be a difficult choice. As you probably know already, very few streamers use the 800. Those who use the A40 often choose this model because of the outdated A50 reports or because they want to use Mixamp. Prior to buying the first A50 I was using a Turtle Beach 500X. I still use the 500X with one of my three XB1 consoles. It is not as comfortable as the A50 headset, and I have never been able to get the microphone working on the 500X. The microphone problem is what influenced me to switch to Astro.

Edited by Stari: 1/21/2017 2:08:50 PMI use Turtle Beach Elite 800 (my second one, first one ear-shell broke) and before i have used Turtle Beach XP500 (XBox). The only thing i needed a good headset for was Call Of Duty ----> to hear the enemy's footsteps. For Destiny an expensive headset is waste of money.

I've got the Sony wireless ones. Kind of expensive but super comfortable and the sound quality is great.

Razer kraken chroma 7.1 usb.

Maybe it's because I'm not a competitive player, but do you really need a super good headset for destiny..? The radar is super noob friendly, it's not like cod where you need to sound whore people to know where they are
