I've recently had the following issue on the Play Station:
Your permissions to access online multiplayer gameplay may have changed or your profile may have been signed in elsewhere
As I've seen several threads regarding this, I wanted to let everyone know what I believe the solution to the issue is.
The following steps should solve the issue if you are using a Play Station:
1. Locate all play stations (PS3, PS4, Vita, etc) in your house.
2. Shut them all off.
3. Turn on only your PS4 and log into Destiny and select your character.
Why this works:
Either PS appears to have modified accounts so if they are logged into multiple DEVICES, they won't be playable online or the most recent update to Destiny is causing an issue with the same PS accounts on multiple devices. This includes an PS3's that kids may be logged into or any Play Stations where friends may be using your account. My guess is people were sharing accounts to allow others to download games - it's the only reason I can think of why it may have changed.
To fix this permanently, a separate account will need to be created for each play station. Alternatively, once you are logged into Destiny, the other play stations can be turned on to use Netflix or any game on the PS3 but Destiny won't work on another PS4.
Based on the feedback below, it may be an issue with Destiny and Bungie is looking into the cause. This should only impact Destiny and other online games should work normally.

Xbox people, I'm sorry. I'm not sure if this is the same solution for you guys.

I've tried all this, still have the prob.
-
Battleborn has same problem
-
The problem still needs to be fixed. This is pretty annoying!
-
Bro you are the real MVP this the only thread that actually helped thank you so much
-
Thank you sir! Resolved the issue. Created another username for my PS3.
-
Yeah thats what he had to do... Thanks!
-
Thank you that fixed my problem
-
This worked for me! Thanks so much!

The deal is your logged onto your PS3 under your same user name that is on the ps4. This is garbage because now I have to create another account just so my family can watch ps vue and I can play destiny on my PS4 under my account. Garbage.......how they got away with this is beyond me. I'm considering getting rid of ps vue now because of this

Edited by MintyGreenLlama: 1/21/2017 6:39:00 AMI'm trying to remote play Destiny using a PS Vita and getting this error. Does my Vita count as a secondary device? I don't own any other consoles... EDIT: Here's the kicker. When I went home last night I connected to my PS4 through my Vita with my wifi and had ZERO issues playing destiny. But when I try from another wifi location the same exact issue happens where it says I don't have permissions. This is even after reinstalling the entire +50 gb of Destiny and clearing system cache. Worth noting, I have no problems playing Rocket League online (other than using the awful Vita controls themselves)... I wish I could plug a DS 4 into im vita... or into my phone and play remotely on that...

For people having this issue, you might want to check this:
How do I find out how many devices are activated on my account? Sign in to the Account Management website with your PlayStation Network details and check the Devices tab. Select a type of device to find out whether it is activated for Game , PlayStation Music or PlayStation Video.
( The Account Management link is at https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/pc/login.action?request ; if you don't trust the clickable link here, feel free to go to their website yourself to get there ) It seems Sony may have gotten around to fully implementing their activation limit system that they discussed last year and that might be causing the issue. (The above quote is from the second link) https://www.playstation.com/en-ie/get-help/help-library/my-account/device-activation-deactivation/about-device-activation/ https://www.playstation.com/en-ie/get-help/help-library/my-account/device-activation-deactivation/about-device-deactivation/

Edited by KirkaOrange: 1/22/2017 2:43:49 PMKen, it's a really work ! But, what I must do with my son, who does not live with me ? He use my account on the PS3. Every time to call him and ask: please, shutdown your console ? Bungie ? !!!
-
Wtf this some bullsheet why cant they just make everything convenient
-
Thanks man! I have a ps3 in my house that my daughters play on, and I turned my online status off cause of people bugging me toof much, so I turned off the ps3 completely, turned my online status to Appear Online, restarted my ps4, and it logged me in. I was about to cuss bungie out! This helped big time!
-
But my PS3 is with my sister and her son, and they both have their own signins. Only my nephew plays, and he plays on his PS4.
-
Thank you for the post. It was driving me crazy! Never had an issue with both PS3 and 4 being on at the same time. Hope they fix it soon.
-
Yea it's the same for me on Xbox 1 I can't get on cause it's saying the same thing

Edited by zNapSack: 1/20/2017 5:48:56 AMThis issue is occurring with the PS4 as well as the XBox One. It can occur even if you own only one console. For example, you do not have to have an XBox One and an XBox 360, or a PS4 and a PS3. It only occurs while playing Destiny. It is not an XBox Live or Playstation Network issue. It's not a console issue and there is nothing one can do to prevent it from occurring. It has nothing to do with ones Internet Service Provider or connection to them. It's not a Router/Modem issue. Hence, rebooting your Router for example is unnecessary and, in this case, does nothing. Simply exit Destiny and re-start. If it works, great. If not, exit Destiny once more and try again later. It is an issue Bungie is certainly aware of and likely working to fix. Until then there is nothing the end user can do.

+1.... Son (who is 6) is on PS3 in his room (running same account) and now I can't play Destiny if he is watching Netflix or playing games. Other online games seem to work on my PS4 though he is logged in. This wasn't an issue before the new update.
-
Amazing. Thank you. I was wondering what was happening. The wife is on the psnetflix (PS3) while I am trying to log in.
-
So much +1 for this. Thanks. Had old PS3 running Netflix in the livingroom, and no more destiny. Seems like an idiotic restriction if you ask me, but what can you do.
-
This issue is also happening to me, but only in Destiny. I can play other online games without issue. However if my PS3 is turned on and watching VUE, it now kicks me out of Destiny.
-
I'm also not sure how to get this towards the top of the forum. If this works for you, please up-vote to move to the top of the forum page.
-
Thanks for pointing this out. This deserves all the bumps it can get until the issue is resolved.
-
Thank you for this I will be adding it to my connection help guide.

Edited by ConcedeSuddenly: 1/20/2017 6:51:12 PMThis is the same way I overcame this. ps3 has to be off or logged into a user other than myself. I also have the join fireteam on same network issue. We have opened all ports with Comcast. Sometimes we can join, sometimes we can't. It's terrible. I am hoping Destiny 2 just works.
