The reason there is not so much build up is because bungie does not want the raid to finish the story. Very few people complete the raid (only 4% of people on xbone have completed the WOTM) so bungie does not want to leave the majority of the community hanging with an unfinished story.

 • But that's their problem! They SHOULD play the raid. That's a lame excuse.

 • Not everyone has enough time to play the raid. Some may have half an hour or less a day. The numbers are there. Only 4% of xbone players have beaten the new raid. Do you think bungie is going to try to please 4% of their community or 96%?

 • Then why do you buy a game in the first place if you know you won't play the biggest activity the game has to offer? That makes no sense and it's a terrible way to spend money.

 • When people first bought this game many people did not even know there was going to be a raid. Also, people buy video games for enjoyment and a break from the real world. That does not mean they have to do the raid.

 • Uh, Bungie announced two expansions with raids before the game came out. What are you talking about? And most of the people you are talking about, I am sure they have every single expansion, so they keep buying expansions but they don't have time to play the end game content? Please. A break from the real world? Well, destiny isn't the only game out there. Many games let you "take a break from the real world" while actually playing the biggest activities the game has to offer without spending too much time. Buying destiny when you don't have time to play raids is not really a smart move.

 • Oh I get it and fully understand. That said, the fact that KF did complete the Crota/Oryx/Vanilla Hive story arc in spite of that really felt satisfying.

 • Yeah that part is solid. The lore is great for Vault and the Vex, but atheon just felt like "Oh, yeah! And here's Atheon!" I've seen lore videos that tie it all together in a nice way, but that should be done in game and not by a Youtuber. Aksis was the same way. Saladin was like, "Congratulations. You stopped Siva. There's still some out there, but you did it." And then Shiro was like, "oh hey, there's some Fallen claiming to have a machine god or something? Figure you could look into that. Just whenever you get time."
