The clanking noises of running feet echoed in the hall. A whole squad of Awoken guards and battle frames were charging for the escapees. When the squad rounded the bend, they froze. They had their rifles raised, but everyone was confused. Only Harkon stood there-- he was propped up against the wall whittling something.
"Avilleon?!" Nina asked as she shoved through the crowd. Harkon glanced at her but continued to whittle whatever was in his hands. "What are you doing here?! You are only allowed in the arenas; the armory is for designated personnel only!"
Harkon threw himself to his feet then faced the crowd. "I can't believe that worked..."
"What... worked?" Nina asked.
"Was I... talking to you?" Harkon asked as he placed his hands on his waist and cocked his head.
Avilon dropped down from the ceiling and stuck shock grenades on four different guards! He shoved the stuck people into the crowd, killing six in total. Captain Yuli pulled out her Vestian Dynasty and faced him, but Harkon grabbed her gun hand and held it out, then held a crudely made knife to her throat.
"Say hello to Nikki... She's kinda dull, so, this could hurt..." Harkon whispered into the captain's ear as he slowly slid the knife across her neck. Yuli panted heavily, trying not to scream, but as the serrated edge tugged on her, she would let out yelps of pain. Tears rolled down her face as blood slowly dripped down her neck.
"Are you sadistic, too?" Avilon asked as he held Nina by a choke hold.
"I can be," Harkon replied. In one quick motion, Harkon finished her off. Blood quickly stained his knife, but he sheathed it without cleaning it anyways.
Nina was now heavily crying in fear and was attempting to hold down her lunch due to the display. Avilon turned to her and stared at her with the white eye slots of his helmet. "Now, what was it you called me in the cell?"
"A, uh... uh... uh..." Nina tried to speak, but her voice was drowned in her crying.
"Say it!!" Avilon yelled.
"A worthless pile of scraps!" She yelled after being startled by his demand. She grasped at his grip, but Avilon held to her throat tightly.
"I got something in mind for you..." Avilon said.
Avilon started the engines of a Ceres Galliot ship in the hanger. Once again, sirens followed by a message echoed in the Vestian Outpost: "Attention, unauthorized departure detected! Attention, unauthorized departure detected! All personnel report to the hanger immediately!"
"Only a matter of time," Avilon said to Harkon with a smile.
Nina stood in front of the door that led from the hanger into the hallway. She saw Petra and six other guards running at the gate through the glass. She shook her head wildly as tears poured down her face like rivers. Her mouth was taped shut and her hands were tied together behind her back. When the gate letting Petra into the hanger opened, Nina was hoisted into the air by rope tied around her neck. The royal guard dangled two feet off the ground, swinging freely like a pendulum.
"NINA!!" Petra cut the rope that was connected to the door mechanism in one motion of taking her knife out of the sheath. Guards caught Nina's body when she fell, but it was too late. She was dead.
"And you call me sadistic... I'm so proud of you!" Harkon commented. "They grow up so fast," he added with the sound of fake crying. The ship broke free of its harness and faced the vacuum of space. Petra, fueled with new hatred, ripped a rocket launcher from a guard's hands and fired at the ship, but it already activated its warp drive, allowing the rocket to fly into an asteroid and silently explode.
She threw down the massive weapon, causing a large dent in the floor. "Scramble all remaining crows! I want them found and brought back to me! Alive if you can, but kill them if you must!" The six guards stomped their right feet to the ground then left the hanger.
Variks walked in as two guards carried Nina's corpse past. He walked up beside Petra, who was trying not to cry, mostly out of rage. The aging Fallen captain propped himself up with his staff. "Thief ambassador is a murderer. He will lose respect from other Houses, yesss."
"It does not change the fact that I want this 'House of Thieves' destroyed! Every last one of them dead! Even if one of their own is a 'Guardian'!" Petra twitched violently and a vein was popping out of her head. She stormed out of the hanger, but Variks stayed and watched the asteroids float by.
"You play dangerous game, Avilon. Our move now, yesss..." Variks said to nothingness before retreating to the safety of the Vestian Outpost.
