Still No Mention Of A Balance Update

I feel as if we have been stuck with the current crucible "balance" (or more accurately the lack thereof) for far too long now. Me and a lot of people I know who have been playing since day one agree that this has been by far the least fun the crucible has ever been with there being such a huge advantage given to players that chose to run very specific loadouts, and favour given to strategies that require far less skill than their less effective counterparts. We need change, and we need it soon. I am astonished that there STILL has been almost no mention of a re-balance update, almost no indication of what things might come in the update (other than a vague mention of shotgun changes about a month ago), and not even a hint as to when we can expect it to drop. I am a die hard player of this game, I've been playing since the beta, and was following the game for months and months before it's release. I've stuck with the game through the good and the bad, but this current state of the game has seen me take more breaks from the game than any other patch by a huge margin (and I know I'm not alone in that). Please give us some indication of when the next big sandbox update will be, and what we can expect from it. Also, please don't just make the game worse with the update.

    • Agree crucible is a mess right now. 80% of weapons are not usable because they suck: auto rifles, low impact scouts, high impact pulses, low impact fusions, low impact shotties. Don't forget the exotics that suck because they fall into poor archetypes, and the fact that they have such poor base stats that they can't compete with legendaries.

      • Got the itch for that next shitty meta drop I take it? Why you think it will be any better than the last million before it? Maybe the new meta will make you better? Nope nope and nope. I honestly at this point wish they would stop with the rotation but of course they won't cause it feeds the gambling addiction side of the game too well.

        • The only thing that needs to happen to the update is an auto rifle buff and equal share of damage to what the hunters nades do. Right now shadow shot smoke does damage over time and removes you're radar. The spike nade melts insanely fast. It's annoying. But make the titan and warlock void class do the same amount of damage. I'd love to use a vortex grenade again. But the damage in the grenade is +5... +5?!?! I like were snipers are at, and shotguns. It is bullshit a shotgun can toe shot you and you die instantly. But if we had auto rifles to melt the -blam!-ers charging at you from 40 feet away. We'd be fine. They would have to pick a better strategy then that. More weapons in the weapon type need to be just as good. Not just one. I think we are all tired of always seeing one really good weapon and the rest are trash to it.

                        • This game never ceases to amaze me. I'm in a cqc fight, sidearm vs matador, I blink backwards at least 10 meters, yet the shotgun and thundersnipe still connect. What's funny is that you could see the arc from the melee go across the air, then down to where I was.

                        • Hand cannons all need a range buff and removal of bloom. Shotguns need a major nerf. Titan skating need a nerf. Storm caller and Void walker need nerfs. Mid and high impact pulses need damage buffs. Sunsinger needs a buff. All autorifles need a buff. Hawkmoon need to be buffed. Hunter throwing knife and tripmines need to be in-nerfed.

We need change, and we need it soon.[/quote] I understand a lot of players feel the need for a balance patch, but I genuinely am curious where the huge advantage from a specific loadout lies at the moment. Pulse rifles are currently beastly with Clever Dragon, Grasp and Hopscotch all still seeing heavy use in PvP and all are able to drop us in a heartbeat. The only pulse rifles that aren't ever seen are the highest impact/low RoF. Compare this to year 2 with the Nirwens era (read: the pulse rifle meta). I'd say year 3 is better. Hand Cannons are probably the best represented they have ever been with Palindrome, Eyasluna, ill Will and Imago Loop to go along with TLW (okay Thorn sucks now). Compare today's hand cannons to the hand cannon meta (read: Thooooorn) and you see them just as well represented and effective but infinitely more diverse. Scouts are essentially unchanged since launch and from MIDA still to Cryptic Dragon, Angel's Advocate and Distant Star, again well represented in PvP. The high impact Scouts have always been the best PvP scouts too, just people are afraid to try them there but going back to the old IB scouts, they've always been great Compare this to the MIDA era and again, where is today's PvP more dependant on a single loadout? Snipers are fair again year 3 after the ridiculous year 2 sniper meta. People will argue shotguns, but that's more a function of game modes (supremacy) than performance. Felwinters + Blink was not more diverse. The last thing and probably the part I have the most issue with is the insistence on calling players less skilled for using certain weapons. It's always the weapon with people, never the opponent and that's simply not true.

                            • They usually let shit go for 6 months at a time.. even when TLW would hit for 111 ADS.. they don't give a -blam!-.. and if they do? Well they are too stupid to balance weapons. Although they always leave one (two if we're lucky) weapon that dominates all others

                                The transparency that Bungie holds with any information regarding the status of their product is absurd. Communities LOVE IT when companies, businesses or studios aren't quite as witholding regarding information about what people can expect to see in the future or what is going on currently. Literally just watched a stream that a AAA studio just did and all they talked about were plans for 2017, discussing some questions that viewers had and talking about the state of the game. Being hush-hush on stuff that wasn't quite ready, but open none the less. ...then they had a follow-up stream where the community managers basically just showcased the new stuff, showed off awesome fan-art that was submitted and talked about their favourite fan-concept of the week. I'm constantly blown away by how tight-lipped Bungie is about their product and how they feel that despite having a lot of the changes be influenced by consumer demand, they remain closed off in terms of what their plans are and what should be in store for the audience in the future. It's just not healthy.

                                • Having been away for a month and jumping back on to deal with the lack of action is frustrating. Just looking at the numbers of PVP player activity on Destiny tracker it has dropped from around the 900k mark a month ago to 300-350k now. Granted Christmas has come, but now people have alternative options there is obviously a huge amount of jumping ship. Losing 2/3 of a daily player base in a month is pretty drastic. Time to go play Battlefield....

                                    • Well, we've been on a downward trend for a while now. I notice done of the sharpest dropoffs I've seen after Thursday came and went and they said jack shit nothing about new balancing. People were angry over festival of the cost. People found that the specific manor of "strike scoring" drove people to to either sit in the entrance to a strike to clear their bounties or else made them not exactly team players. Some people got pissed off about the icebreaker and just walked away without saying another word... (Seriously though. People defend the choice but I think that decision cost them a lot of players rather you agree with it or not...) And then cozmo saying that a balance patch would be addressed after the new year, and then nothing was said about it. I frankly don't care rather you think people were being "whiny" about FOTL, the dawning, icebreaker, that fragging forklift, the strikes, or anything else............. People, rather you want to legitimize it or not, were angry and tired. Why are the server numbers down while less people are complaining? Because people are tired of toxic idiots shouting them down. They didn't say goodbye, they just left, and honestly the people who have been running around shouting down anyone who felt abused or neglected only have them selves to blame that matchmaking is getting slower and slower.
