Games of the Year 2016 (per the media)
Not that it's ultimately important, but I wanted to do an overall look at how many awards various games took, as an interesting look at the most acclaimed games of the year and the trends that they follow. So here's a tally, without naming each publication because that's pretty irrelevant too (although maybe less so with exclusives). Anyway:
Titanfall 2: 1
Hitman: 1
Dark Souls III: 1
Doom: 1
The Witness: 1
The Last Guardian: 2
Inside: 2
Uncharted 4: 7
Overwatch: 8
Interesting to note that only one game receiving multiple awards was a sequel.
To better classify:
Shooters: 3
Puzzle-adventures: 3
Action: 2
RPG: 1
On a personal note, I agree that Overwatch was the tops, with Uncharted 4 a little behind, and Inside, Doom, The Witness, and even TF2 being quality titles. Not as sure about The Last Guardian, given all the technical issues, control problems, and pacing, but hey.
Thoughts?
Keep in mind, not every establishment has awarded their yet, notably the British Academy of Film and TV. The BAFTAs are on 12/2.

[spoiler]no one important (of the good guys) even died for christ's sake. Drake just acted like a baby the whole game about only being in it for his brother and not- hm. I've had a realization whilst typing. There were a few moments his expression said he was enjoying it. That he was loving the adventure. If that was the case, then why does he want to home so badly? Has Elena got him on a chain that tight? I feel like they went for a mushy, relatable ending instead of something fitting of Nathan Drake. [/spoiler]

22 RepliesShocking that the most overrated game of the year got the most rewards. Don't get me wrong it's not bad but it's just a mp shooter with nothing beyond mp in the game. I think TitanFall 2 deserved more. To me it's easily the best game of the year.

Overwatch hmm tried it bored the life out of me. I don't see the effort put in to the game. Dark souls, bf1, tf2, plenty of effort not much love it's crazy 🙃
