What does your Faction mean to you?
Hello and welcome Guardians! for those who still recognize my name it's been a while, for everyone else, HELLO! i'm AnonPig, i do the lore things.
But today I'm here to ask you that very simple question, there are three Factions in Destiny and they all have their own philosophical stance on how to do things in the Destiny Universe, i align with Dead Orbit myself because i feel it's the most logical answer. Holding on to our planets and our lost Golden Age is a mistake, we can find a better life out there among a different star.

I agree with those below who struggle to find meaning in the factions. The reality is that the philosophical ideologies and differences between the factions are purely academic and only superficially presented through very sparse references in grimoire (thus unseen by the [i][b]vast[/b][/i] majority of players. Oh, and the occasional canned statements by the NPC faction reps. In-game, there are no differences between the factions, with the exception of aesthetics and weapon/armor stats. As is true of soooo much of Destiny to date, this had tremendous potential to impact, expand, and enhance gameplay, but it was allowed to lie fallow.

FWC to means that I got the Vanilla Warlock set during TTK, still using the helmet, love it. Also I don't need to hang with a bunch of nerds who want to run away or Executor Hideo. He's a dick.

I think that given enough time, considering what we've done in the last two to three years, we might win this war, or at least win some peace for a bit. The only faction that seems like it might be able to handle peace is the New Monarchy. The FWC, I like. I get the wisdom in preparing for a big final showdown, and not surprisingly, their weapons are usually top notch. The problem is, what happens after this ultimate fight? We can't just be at war for ever, that sword will eventually have to be made into a plow. They call themselves a cult and cults aren't really known for being able to handle a radical change in philosophy. I'm glad to have them around, but if they do their job well, there's no place for them in the future they'll win. Dead Orbit seems like kind of a dead end for humanity. I get the urge to go out among the stars. I understand the strategy of not being here when the full force of the Darkness hits earth. Running away won't solve the problems we're facing though. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we give this a try already to a lesser extent? Russia is filled with the remains of a failed mass exodus that humanity tried when the Darkness first showed up. And the more successful of the evacuees only seem to have gotten to the asteroid belt and now are depending on the city's guardians for defense. The best case scenario for Dead Orbit looks a lot like the current state of the Fallen. We can do better. The Traveler didn't come here to be our king, and it's in no state to fill that role anyway. The Speaker isn't leading. The Vanguard is excellent at organizing defence and offensive strikes, but humanity is more than just the guardians in the tower. It's the civilians and children in the Last City. New Monarchy is the only faction that can offer them a future being something other than refugees or soldiers.

nothing. It means, if you played year one, stats. DO str/dis, FWC int/dis, NM int/str. But since faction gear couldn't get you to max light it became about shaders. As much as I like this game, they have done a piss poor job of making me feel anything for a faction other than "I get loot when I lvl"

Future War Cult. Killing stuff to prepare for a war where we kill more stuff. Sounds like a plan to me.

My faction I a blessed place to go to retrieve packaging and enjoy the endless trolling of never getting a ship in them.

nothing, there is no purpose to them at all.. you can have three characters and rep each faction to obtain weapons, the armour meh.. shouldn't factions actually have a function in the game, some type of real meaningful interaction. Ideas. pvp matches would choose only players from one faction for each team, the more that faction wins in a week, the more rep that faction would earn end of the week for those participants. perhaps something that really shows the differences between the ideology of each faction.. I would be willing to be that most people don't even realize the political differences between each faction.. yet another piece of the game that was ripped out and never put back in.

Absolutely nothing. The packages after leveling up is the only thing. And i have all 3 split between all the characters so I can have stuff from all of them

Hmm, good question! (And... welcome back? Haven't seen you around lately) I'd be a moderate Dead Orbiter - not as fatalistic as their core dictates. My stance would be pro-Accelerando, [i]but[/i] I wouldn't give up on Earth. In other words, don't put your eggs in one basket, but hey I like that basket so let's mend it. My Titan is the only character that I intrinsically associate with a faction, in this case New Monarchy. The reason is that Titans built the wall and foundations of the city, so it makes sense that my Titan aligns with them. They're invested in the City, its citizens and government (allegedly, haha... we have all heard Cayde calling them out over the loudspeaker.) All the other factions have other, more morbid priorities. For this reason, my Titan is the only character I have where I make a conscious effort to use NM gear, especially shaders and ships.
