Fallout 4 tips?

Just started a little bit ago. Started my settlement in Sanctuary and visited Diamond City. Any tips for a beginner? Edit: I've got a lot of useful tips that I intend to use. Thanks a lot!

Take the following perks as early as you can: Scrounger: This perk allows you to find more ammo in containers. Some ammo such as 10mm rounds are pretty hard to find early on. Fortune Finder: This perk allows you to find more caps in containers. With the final rank of this perk when you kill an enemy with a critical hit, bottlecaps will explode from their bodies when they die. Awareness: This perk will give you additional information on an enemy when you target them in VATS, such as what level they are. Scrapper: This perk lets you collect more resources from the weapons and armors that you scrap. Pro tip: Avoid enemies with a skull next to their names. You'll be be dead so fast you won't know what hit you.

      • Always try to have a follower, Codsworth is a good starter. Reason being is simple.. you wanna try to go through armor and weapon workbenches and "highlight" all materials you'll need to upgrade shit once you start taking the needed perks (ie armorer perk for armor mods, gun nut perk for gun mods, etc). These materials can be found in the most random shit, and are also used to build up on your chosen home. Fill up your inventory with junk that has components you'll use, and then do the same with your follower. You can command them to pick items up off the floor infinitely, as well. They essentially don't have a weight limit if you do this. If you don't wanna break the game most companions have ~ 200 pounds of carry weight. Once you're swimming in junk, head back home and dump it all in your workbench using the transfer option. Also, take the scavenger perks. This will allow you to dismantle modded weapons and armor you pick up for rare components.

If you haven't played New Vegas, make your Fallout memories with that game first, so much better. You only NEED two tips for that game. 1: Avoid Quarry Junction 2: Avoid... pretty much the entire westernmost mountain range. However, counter-tip, once you have an AMR with explosive rounds from GRA, disregard both previous tips. As for Fallout 4... dunno, collect a lot of junk components I guess? Game is pretty easy and kind of bland in my opinion. Although I will admit, Far Harbor is one of the coolest DLCs I've ever played, on par with the entirety of NV imo.

              • Best tips I got are 1 try to remember the well rested perk from sleep to rank up faster 2 get the idiot savant perk under luck, it is annoying at times but helps you rank up if your intelligence is lower. 3 when hacking terminals look for closed brackets such as ( ) { } < > These will remove duds or reset your attempts

                • Literally explore man, plugged so many hours into exploring and didn't even touch the main story (until 2 days ago) now currently in the dlc -blam!-ing enjoying it. Also really have fun with your build and don't be afraid you're wasting your perks!

                  • Don't be afraid to turn the difficulty down if it's too hard as early game is pretty tough. Once you get some weapons I suggest turning it up to hard for a challenge as things start to get super easy the stronger you get. Also DONT PICK SURVIVAL If you do, get another save file and play survival on that. Survival will drain your items and your patience.
