Here's a little something I came up with on the fly not five minutes ago! It's a tale of love - for a particular gun...
*******************************************
'Twas long, long ago on a hot summer night;
I was a young Guardian, brimming with Light
When I first heard talk of the wondrous might
Of a most lethal weapon named Thorn.
"Steer clear! Its power's too dark", they taught,
But all of their pleas and their cries came to naught
For my mind was consumed with a treacherous thought:
I must get my hands on that Thorn.
I then slaved away, for week after week;
Only with Xander I ever did speak
Until he bestowed to me what I did seek:
A path to the exotic Thorn.
My first task was to descend into the pit
Where a huge beast grown by the Hive did sit,
After which I would find myself one little bit
Closer to re-making Thorn.
The next step called for slaughtering Hive,
A chore that I relished - none would survive
If it meant that I could render alive
The slumbering chassis of Thorn.
It seemed that their darkness was not enough;
I was left with no choice but to get rough
And send Guardians to the Void. Tough,
But manageable just for Thorn.
The Speaker caught on to my intent at last,
Thinking I'd repeat mistakes from the past
So he "cleansed" the weapon, hindering the vast
And untapped power of Thorn.
The final task, it frightened my Ghost.
Of the difficult trials, this was the most:
Go back to the pit and vanquish the host
Of the now-completed Thorn.

The battle was over. The day was done. However, there came a new dawn.
Heroes emerged from that spawning pit: me, my Ghost, and my Thorn.
My staunchest ally, it guarded my Light from Atheon, Skolas, and more,
Then finally there began a new era with King Oryx knocking at the door.
The flood of new power the dread King brought with him fuelled my darkened hopes, but lo,
Those wimps in the Crucible took umbrage to Thorn, so alas, she had to go.
My spirt was shattered, my very soul ripped! My wonderful weapon was tossed.
Hawkmoon and Tlaloc just weren't the same. Without my old Thorn, I was lost...
*******************************************
I was quite surprised one fine morn,
After Year Three's recent dawn,
To hear a rumour floating 'round:
"Looks like Thorn is back in town."
Now as the year nears its end,
I once again look for my friend.
In darkness I shall be reborn,
Once I hold aloft the elusive THORN.

What a sorry story, eh? Let me know if you liked it!
Cheers,
The first member of the Loser Crew, WRONKYDONG
P.S. Bungie, I'm still a bit ticked off about Thorn. If you hadn't guessed.
