I adore the bladedance subclass and by all means it's still very good considering they have one of the best passive abilities in the game (Quick Draw) and Skip Nades!
But, the super is horrible now. Short stops are better but still occur and it's too easy to kill a blade or just simply run from it. Why is it that the subclass that is supposed to be built around speed can just be out run?
Here's something else that I don't get:
Hammer Titans can tank 2 blade swipes, but a blade can't take 1 hammer. Why is their ranged super better than my up close super? In my opinion one hit from Blade should kill you no matter what. Especially considering I have to actually get to you when you can kill me from range with Hammers.
Recommendations:
Increase speed while in blade. I'm infused with electric abilities I should be quick like lightning right? It should be really hard to outrun a blade.
Increase damage from blade hits, keep the hit registration the same I guess to compensate, but if I hit you, you should die.
If you don't increase the speed and damage then at least increase damage resistance so it's not so easy to kill.
***Update*** I appreciate all the support for some of these ideas and the discussion. I thought I would add a couple points:
1. I play all the classes and subclasses. I have opinions about balancing those classes as well, I just happened to post the bladedancer one first. So please don't assume I'm saying it's the only class that needs attention. My goal here was to start a conversation about this particular class in hopes that bungie will see that a lot of people have similar thoughts.
2. A couple people have made comments about knowing strengths/weaknesses and adapting. Please understand I have success on the bladedancer and even in the super, but it's extremely inconsistent. I'd even say you've got to get a little lucky when you pop your super too that your opponents are not able to easily run away. As a Warlock (supposed to be really slow, right?) I have been able to see a blade dancer pop super maybe 10 yards from me, me have enough time to recognize I don't have any shotgun ammo, turn and run away. I hate doing that! I know how that guy feels, he's helplessly chasing me, wasting his super and hoping I accidentally trip or something. And my point is, if that was a Hammer titan or Stormcaller, he'd have a much better chance to kill me.
3. Thanks again for the conversation and feedback! I read everyone's comments and hope we get enough up votes to get some attention from Bungie.

I agree that the subclass needs its super to be addressed in some way, and it is commendable that you and other members of the community took some of their private time to share their concerns. A few comments on your post: 1) blade dancers do have the ability to one-blade any other super, as long as you have encore on instead of hungering blade, but nobody does that because you are screwed. 2) I agree that it is highly illogical that at shotgun distances you need to blade 2-3 times to actually get it to register a hit. Moreover, there are cases that there is a target right in front of you but the blade goes sideways or even backwards for no apparent reason. Finally, the fact that a skating titan or bones hunter can outrun you when they are next to you is greatly disappointing and frustrating most of the time. 3) You stated that titans are supposed to be the tank slow moving class of the game, and many people in the replies argued that it is not the case. It is my belief that whatever the titan's designed purpose was is irrelevant. What is relevant is their ability to skate, and by extension the ability of warlocks to surf and hunters to bone or double jump away with increased mobility. Bungie has clearly stated that skating was not a mechanism that they intended to be in the game but they are keeping it regardless. Whether it is fair or not I have yet to conclude, but what I think is greatly unbalanced is the fact that increased mobility for warlocks and/or titans can be achieved with no agility at all. In fact, it is encouraged, especially for warlocks as it enhances their surfing ability. Consequently, they can max out in recovery and armour without any regard for agility at all. In contrast, hunters, and especially bladedancers, face severe consequences when opting to max their mobility, as they need agility, which usually results in minimal recovery. If you use blink, which is essential to last word/sniper bladedancers, then you are forced to zero recovery if you want the increased mobility of a badly nerfed blink. Therefore we can conclude, that the overall stat balancing of agility/recovery/strength in its current state is working against hunters and especially bladedancers, causing in part their super to suffer too. 4) and my apologies for the long post, (3) opens a huge chapter which I regard to be the bane of the current crucible state which is the mobility of classes and subclasses. I will not be extensive, but a plethora of complains concerning shotguns supers and other aspects of the game is a direct result of the increased mobility of all the classes which makes weapons and abilities seem overpowered. I currently have no idea how this can be addressed, and it is not my job to do so, but as a player and a civilised member of this community I can at least offer my thoughts. As a closing remark, I have to say that I am overly pessimistic about the future of this game till its upcoming sequel. The declining population is palpable in areas outside the us, failure to provide concrete updates to pvp and the general ease of going through the current content are all signs of a game that has exhausted its supply of entertainment and is merely functioning as a ghost ship barely floating towards the end destination of destiny 2. I really hope we will see any sort of change soon, as destiny 2 is two thirds of a long year away.

Blade dancer is my favorite sub class, I think blink needs a buff, arc bolts should do more damage, and the bull sh*t cool down in between swipes and super energy consumption should be toned down. I liked the spammy unlimited swipes like year 1
-
Buuummmp blade needs more mobility it's so easy to outrun
-
Bladedancers have been useless in every raid. Hell I would take a voidwalker into a raid before a Bladedancer.
-
Why don't you just got -blam!-ing gud. "The once great bladedancer" I almost choked when I read this crap. The greatest load of ahamkara shit i have ever seen. More like: "The once op bladedancer comes down to earth" If you can't be good with bladedancer than go run gunslinger or pussy stepper. Throw some sand in someone's eyes as a nightstalker chumps.
-
How else are you supposed to counter a blade shotguns and other supers are the only thing that can counter you are either stupid and not smart with your super or you are clearly stupid and you can still throw nades while in super so try it
-
I do not understand why everyone on the forums complains that Blade Dancer is a terrible class and has a broken super. Or maybe the Blade Dancers I come across are just like a small Clan or super elites who know what to do in order to dominate.
-
Welcome to how it feels to be a sun singer
-
Oh boo hoo. Ur super doesnt dominate like it used to but ur neutral game is one of the best with Shinobu Vows and back stab. Sorry u cant be OP.
-
Edited by Dr Livingston 9: 12/30/2016 6:30:34 PMi played blade for a short time but not enough to comment but i will say SUNSINGER needs a buff more then any other sublcass. this really ticks me off. all you see is fusion grenades in the crucible its a grenade based subclass and its grenades are not that good. hell sunbreakers have fusions and can throw hammers. i think the perfect fix is just put viking funeral back the way it was. the firebolt grenade itself will do less damage then in year 1 because that was nerfed. i only played blade after they nerfed it . it seemed like a decent subclass but i can say when i use my saladins vigil on a blade dancer it melts more then any other sublcass. does it need more defense? saladins vigil does not do as good against other supers. so maybee it needs some kind of buff. id say more damage resistence because when i fight bladedancers they seem more fragile then other subclasses. if you do a sunsinger post ill be the first to chime in!!!
-
Yasssss!!!! I've been saying this for so long!
-
They need to remove the energy taken when getting a kill and slicing keep the super bar normal and let it drain on it's own and let there be no swipe cool down and they need a tad armor buff just alil bit everything else I agree with
-
It needs PVE love tbh
-
Please. A Titan, which is supposed to be the slow, tanky class, can easily outrun blade.
-
Works fine for me. The super is still great, just need to understand when and how to use it.
-
Petition to officially rename Blade Dancer to "Trade Dancer". Or "broke junk".
-
Just no. The supers fine. More like petition to make other super classes die to one fusion grenade from a sunsinger just like a sunsinger dies from one archblade swipe, hammer, or golden gun.
-
Blade dancer is in a perfect spot, they are literally strocaller but with a good nade instead of mele, the supers both can blink, one hase por range, the other more survivability
-
Bladedancers are really strong in PvP as it is, and you know you also have range on your super that is really strong? I don`t see many players using their razor`s edge at all, there are plenty of times i see bladedancers try to melee a group of stacked players with shotguns.. when razor`s edge would be a much better option to pick up some kills. And they have a lot of stealth in PvE to compensate for their weaknesses. Bladedancer super is strong against PvE trash, you just don`t bring utility and heavy priority target damage. But Hunters have some really good options for that with the nightstalker and Gunslinger. I think BD are good enough as it is.
-
This argument has been had since year 1 when the damn class was actually balanced. Unfortunately, you have the other two classes And their players Who know nothing of their class role.(tank, support) and they decide Crucible should be played like a Hunter plays it. (OMG you mean hunter tactics with a Titan!?) and over year 1, they all got butthurt because they lost the exact engagements they were meant to lose. Now we're in year 3, and people actually know class designation, yet here we are dealing with the same shitty nerfed bladedancer meant to deal with year 1 idiots. Hell, half the people reading this don't even realize that a Hunter is meant for PvP, and Titans/Warlocks are meant for PvE
-
I would like to see what would happen if bungie get rid of their armour but return their mobility to year one status.
-
I'm better off with the flew inter artifact lol. Grenade are good and the blink is just fun. But not as useful.
-
Know your opponents strengths and weaknesses and adapt or choose another subclass/character. If you know hammers will wreck you from a distance, then don't pop you super so far away or go after other enemies. You don't have to be the "hero" and take down someone else's supper.
-
All Sunbreakers have is their super. Thats it. Bladedancers are insanely mobile and have a better variety of ways in which to use their super. Now I'm not saying Bladedancer shouldn't get a buff. Bladedancers should have a buff for PVE, survivability wise possibility, something to get more players to use said super.
-
Hunter "main" here. I say main because I mainly play hunter for pvp. The reason why it's so easy to outrun a blade dancer is because no one actually uses a hunter how it's supposed to be used. max agility. That's all that really needs to be said here. If you run max agility, you have no issues catching people. With the exception of titan skating. Or anyone with mida. Mida players are difficult to catch I'll admit. "but you need armor in pvp." if you want armor run a Titan. Or even a 'Lock for that matter (if you truly like being a slug)
-
The titan doesn't need to run they can just shotgun melee u... by te time u are close to the titan they already put a couple of rounds on u. MeanWhile u wasted half the super bar by pressing r2 to close the gap... matador 64... melee u dead... its horrible... warlocks do the same thing but they melee u from 3 days away... buff blade dancer armor speed and damage
