Main Statement
Rogue one had it all, easter eggs, character development, nostalgia, and amazing choreography.
Hatred for The Force Awakens
Rogue One had a plethora of multi-cultural actors and they didn't seem -blam!-ing forced. I think they made Rogue One's cast so diverse just to prove how bad the Force Awakens was in terms of casting. I know she already has a huge following but I hated the Rei character, but I loved Jyn. The character Jyn had an easy to relate to development and back-story her life had a clear start and ending. Rei had a comical at best robotic sphere partner in salvaging space junk and was unnecessarily adept with wielding the force and had about no backstory or development. It is impossible that she would be able to pull off that "mind meld" (Star Trek). How naturally strong one is with the force affects the power of their abilities, the abilities have to be -blam!-ing learned and she didn't learn it. I would talk about how much I hated Finn's character but I prefer not to be labeled racist. The crew of the Rogue One ship was more memorable than the entirety of The Force Awakens. To veer further off topic I hate Kylo Ren, I don't like the character or the actor at all, he's just a little rage baby and the only scrap of justification is the focus of his jerk sessions, Darth Vader and the fact he's more of a vessel for the dark side and not a wielder. Also they mad the Death Star but it's a planet this time… very creative guys. I have a philosophy, if a series is going to kill of a cemented generally liked character it better be in a good way and be contained in an exceptionally good movie or episode. Han Solo died in a laughable way in an awful movie (in short I hereby decanonize TFA). I really liked that one pilot who fake died at the beginning but he too lacked structure. Really, they put Luke Skywalker in the movie for 30 seconds total screen time. Really. I could go on like this for hours but it is time to move on. Final statement TFA had way too many shitty quips.
Love for Rogue One
Where do I start? (Apologies to die-hard fans I don't remember almost all of the names.) Ah I know the tasteful pun by one of my favorite movie icons "Don't choke on your own ambitions [admiral]." Then there's the fact that the movie was based around one line in Return of the Jedi "Many bothons died to bring you this information." (I may be wrong about that.) Jyn was developed very well, hispanic captain guy was built up well while remaining partially mysterious, K2 was just plain awesome, blind guy had great choreography and his character was made apparent while clouding his past, big gun guy was ur classic tanky no -blam!-s given character, and I need not say more about character traits, my point has been made. Oh yeah there was a reference to mother -blam!-ing Star Wars Rebels about Hera and the Ghost, oh my cream. Also it led perfectly into ANH. Darth Vader ripped some butt holes in an obscenely bad ass scene. The Hammerhead. (It was such an epic scene with the destroyers I need say no more). The demonstration and development of the iconic Death Star. Filling the gaps between EP:3+4.
And I'm tired so I'm going to sleep now, I may add more.
