Just saw it's available on PS4
I read there are PvP and PvE servers, and that in PvP servers your base can get raided. Doesn't sound like a good place for solo players and beginners.
And on PvE servers? Is it hard to survive, build a base etc. solo?
Thanks.

As a solo player on an official server, it will at the least be quite a large time investment. Wildcard recently made the taming/harvesting rates x2 permanently on officials, so that helps a bit in regard to resource grinding. It all really comes down to how a particular alpha tribe governs the server. This is much more prevalent in PVP, but still shows how others carry themselves in other aspects of the game. Kiting aggressive creatures, and pillaring off large areas is a PvE staple for trolls. Just be aware going into it, particularly solo. I'd recommend going into a single player or local game first. At the very least you can get familiar with the games many many different mechanics, and experiment with various rate adjustments and engram unlocks (which there is a limited amount if what one can learn). Another great option is private player dedicated servers. Where a player uses a separate Xbox as the hosting server, and can adjust any and all rates in game, as well as invite as many or few survivors as the host wishes. This is particularly rewarding when playing with friends. If you plan to go into official PvE or PvP, try and go around talking to other survivors before you spend your time building/taming. Often others can tip you off on how the server operates, and if there're any trolls to watch out for. The biggest thing is to just have fun, and try not to get too attached to your first tames...
