Without google, express what you believe quantum mechanics to be, and perhaps why it is important.
Now, as a disclaimer, I'm asking this because I'm genuinely interested in what people have to say. This is a judgement-free thread. There is a range of users here of different age groups who have been exposed to different information. I have chosen to take a path in my life which exposes me to information about this subject, where as others may have not. Others may have, and perhaps they may be far more knowledgeable of the subject than myself. Doesn't matter.
I feel as though quantum mechanics is often regarded as some mysterious unknowable entity of knowledge, or is made out to be something that it is not.
So I want to know what you believe Quantum Mechanics to be. What is it about, why is it a thing, etc.

Edited by fettuccine: 12/17/2016 4:21:11 PMAll I know is that it has some relation to string theory. The strings in question being the ones that make up quantum foam and then those making up quarks which go into Protons and neutrons. That's all I really know. Just the basics, hopefully it's correct to the extent of understanding that I understand that string theory is merely a theory as the name states.
