No Land Beyond: Jack of one trade - Master of disapointment

I got my copy of No Land Beyond from Xûr the first time he sold it. I immediately went to the Cosmodrome to try it. I was happy with what I got. Every headshot was a kill. 'Time to Kill' was replaced by 'Time on Target', for all but the strongest NPC's. But in those first five minutes I had the gun, its debilitating flaw bore its ugly face. After methodically killing ten or twelve Fallen, I was out of ammo.
Ammo! Need ammo! Oh, why does God punish me so?...
I immediately ran to remedy this ailment. I then ran around joyfully decapitating the Cosmodrome's Fallen as they sprang up like daisies, before running into the same problem. It's a problem this weapon will never let you escape. I should also mention that the enemies were respawning faster than I could kill them; perhaps pointing to the weapon's second great flaw (in my opinion), but certainly not its worst. The slow rate of fire, though annoying, limits the weapon from being truly broken. Especially in PvP. I would argue that No Land Beyond's greatest downfall is its ammo limit. You have a potential twelve kills (fifteen if your armor permits), before you are forced to leave your fighting position to resupply for another handful of shots. If you're fighting Majors or Ultras, your number will be smaller still. This is handicap is crippling if you're running a strike on any significant difficulty. I often use a scout rifle or hand cannon instead. Even though I find repeatedly tapping the trigger tedious an redundant, it's better than dragging down the team because I had to run and get PRIMARY AMMO. No Land is a workhorse that needs constant feeding. It's starved for ammo. In Destiny, a primary weapon is the thing you rely on when your Special and Heavy weapon's are out of ammo. As of right now, No Land's most reliable feature is that it will run out of ammo when you need it most... If not before. The simple fact is that ANY other primary can dispatch NPC's faster than No Land Beyond. I deeply considered making a boring Youtube video to illustrate my point, but I decided to spare myself the embarrassment. The fact that it requires timing and finesse to use, is what makes No Land beautiful. The curse is that you will always be out of ammo. The perks aren't the problem. 'Mulligan' is useful. 'The Master' makes is unique and adequately powerful (since it deals no elemental damage). The problems start when you make a mistake and shoot an NPC in the shoulder instead of the head. You'll wound it, but you'll have wasted a round. Do it twice, and there's a sixth of your ammo supply you won't be getting back. Sometimes, (like in raids or heroism) you won't have time to make up for that mistake. Twelve to fifteen rounds is pathetic for a primary weapon. Bungie, please widen your view of this weapon. Factor in how many proverbial daisies a skilled guardian could pluck with any other primary before having to go and rearm. No Land originally had a larger ammo capacity. Then you shrunk it, effectively making the weapon what it is viewed to be today. Most shotguns carry more ammo. But they grossly lack the range. I like this gun. But if I went to Iraq or Afghanistan with twelve bullets, I wouldn't be playing your game today. Limit its crucible capacity for the sake of fairness, if you must. I've personally rarely fired twelve shots from it without dying in a crucible match. But you have a crowd to please. How often to players run out of primary ammo in the crucible anyway? I almost always die before that happens. All I ask is that you give me a chance to enjoy the gun in PVE. If I had FOUR magazines, I might begin to consider No Land Beyond to be a staple, instead of a novelty. Forty rounds would be be adequate: befitting of an exotic primary, still not so many that you could never run out. No Land is a PRIMARY. Let it fulfill that role. In summary: No Land Beyond needs little change in PvP, if any. It excels there, but is effectively limited. In PvE, on the other hand, it is largely useless. Time spent searching for ammo is equal to or greater than time spent dispatching NPC's. No Land Beyond is a great gun. But it shouldn't be useful only in the Crucible. I am the Infantry. Follow me. Thanks for reading, everybody. Please, continue to leave comments.
