This might be hard to describe... Basically I'm after one of those moments in a game when you get a certain quiver of music or a vast landscape or amazing building, anything in a desert level that strikes you as a vast, mysterious, beautiful place... I'd also prefer terrestrial. As wonderful as the Ark is, it's not what I've got in mind.
Instead, think Uncharted 3 or Battlefield 1, where you've got immense, endless waves of sand and the occasional hum of Arabic music to drown you in the heat. Contrary to what I said before, Sanghelios also springs to mind. But that's the sort of ancient beauty I mean, not the Ark's futuristic metals and lights.
What about you lot?

Nobody's said it yet so I'll throw out Journey, then you've also got Spec Ops: the Line AKA, Spec Ops: You'll Want to Rethink Your Life After Playing This

That long camera pan of the crashed pillar of autumn in Halo CE with the music in the back. It only lasts a few seconds but it's just so good

The cliffs outside the frozen ruins in Ori and the Blind Forest.

I always thought Sand Oasis (that's the music) from Sonic & the Secret Rings was pretty cool. I haven't played that game in forever, though.
