Nothing wrong with reloading often so long as you're in a good spot to do so. Get a kill, scan the area around you, once you know the immediate vicinity is clear, pop in a fresh mag, better to be absolutely sure you house enough ammo for the next firefight than chance not having enough, especially when the chances of missing the target are high. So my advice to you (even though they don't make you manually reload all of your magazines....which would be awesome) PRACTICE MODERATION. As with all addicts who want to improve youve admitted the problem, the next step to smart reloading is to cut back alittle as you go, moderation pal. It just works.

Sound advice. I too like to reload after a kill. When I first started playing FPS games (Battlefield 3!) I never remembered to manually reload. I'd shoot at someone, then run around until I got into another encounter, start shooting only to run out before he died and then die myself. So it became reflex to reload after an encounter. But you're right, the smart thing would be to scan the area, make sure you're not about to get into another encounter and then move to cover and only then reload. What's even worse is when I kill someone, initiate the reload and continue moving forward, only to walk into an encounter I could've delayed if only I'd stood still while reloading. Don't get me started on why I developed the habit of always staying on the move (damn snipers!)

That's why you do your own recon. Always assume there's a sniper around the corner or in the building across the way. Caution saves, complacency kills. Always have an escape plan and a plan B for said plan. If all else fails, improvise, adapt, and overcome or die well.

You betcha. FPS games have been a long learning experience for me. All of those are things I need to improve in my game. But that's also what keeps me coming back. I like feeling like I can get (and have been getting) better at something.
