"My empire has rotted under my feet, eaten away at by crime, corruption, greed and loathing, human sin and the greatest of them all, my own ineptitude. I have seen atrocities from planes beyond this world, creatures who devour life on a cosmic scale. I see the horrors of reality every second, and even the meds can't dispute it." Name/Alias: Luana Kalhye, Fallen Empress, Goldilocks Age: 20 Gender: Female Physical Description: Being the runt of the Kalhye family, Luana stands at 5'6, hardly growing since she was just but a small child. Her flowing braids of blond hair works well with brown eyes, rounded, cherub-like facial features and an olive complexion. In terms of physical figure, she is rather fit, if not on the slightly underweight spectrum. She is very youthful looking, deceivingly so, and could be considered attractive. Personality: Luana is extremely nice and sweet to everyone she meets, seeming perpetually delirious and in a state of mania. However, when she experiences a breakdown of PTSD, these attributes are reversed. She then becomes solitary, boiling with rage and teeming with crushing, immesurable sadness. Biography:
Luana was always the smallest of her family, the Kalhyes, a dynasty of emperors who ascended to the throne of Avaran when one passed on. She was teased by her brothers, neglected by her sisters, and normal peers were hard to come by for royal blood. Her father was frequently away to conduct important business as the Emperor, and her mother was too busy sleeping with nobles and capitalist magnates to bother with her youngest daughter. Her only mentor was Sariel, the large and gruff lieutenant of the Royal Guard. Despite a callus and cold appearance on the exterior, Sariel was especially kind to Luana and served as a second father in her life. She learned with him, cried with him, trained with him. By 11, she could pick up a sword and fare rather well against Sariel, who had practiced fencing his whole life. It was clear she was a prodigy, a budding master of the technique. And despite Sariel being explicitly told not to by the Emperor, Luana and her surrogate father continued to do so. Eventually, bad tides came about in Avaran, when a plague onset the province. It decimated the population. There were quarantine bunkers, tireless nights of research for the fabled cure, and eventually they did create one. It was a good way to stall, but the virus adapted and changed its composition. In the second wave things became even worse. The virus was known as Geneva Red, and induced gradual loss of brain function, resulting in onset insanity, spouts of murderous rage ending in hemorrhaging and spasms. The streets of Avaran became a practical warzone. And Luana was at the center of it. Her father had died from the first bout of Geneva Red, and she ascended to the throne in the grace period. In the second, however, Sariel had fallen ill of the plague, as well as her remaining family. A cure could not be practically found. And yet, Luana, The Empress was immune to it. The diease was extremely resilient, and would return despite the measures that were taken. So one one day, she picked up her sword, hands quivering and slick with briny tears. A slow spiral into a horrible and painful grave, killing all those around them, was no way to die. And so she wet her blade on the defenseless members of her family, brothers, sisters, her mother, and finally Sariel. His eyes were haunted and weary as the blade plunged into his heart, dilated and inflicted with pain. Those eyes would not be forgotten. She fled her homeland in haste, desperate to get away from the horrifying past she found. Taking a small cargo craft with her, she fled Avaran, living for days on small rations and floating though the depths of space. Yet, her most important moment was soon to dawn on her. She was contacted by a force outside of reality's bounds and blessed - or cursed - with the Mark. A burning scar that stays on her shoulder, shooting with searing pain. It was a plane of darkness where the voice whispered to her, incantations of horrible things, things not meant for comprehension. A silhouette that danced in the shadows and taunted her, filling her mind with vile things. He abused her, manipulated her, tortured her. It called itself The Shade, and left her with cosmic horrors to siphon into power. For years she wandered, trying to find purpose and remedy for her horrible post traumatic stress. It had proved wholly inconclusive, until someone had implored her to seek out the Dojo, a haven of warriors and powerful people. After months of steady traveling and cumbersome loneliness, she has found the planet of Tatakai, where the Dojo resides.
Weaponry:
Vorpal Blade - The sword in which Luana slew her family and Sariel. However, after a touch of grace by The Shade, it has grown from a standard steel longsword to a weapon dark, emanating something vile and unnatural. It quivers with incredible energy, making the blade itself glow. This makes it able to slice through nearly anything with incredible strength, precision and speed. Gevena Der - A pin-point precise handgun, made for marksman shooters. While Luana is hardly one of such, the weapon was also touched by The Shade and serves as a good backup weapon to the Vorpal Blade. Geneva Der is shrouded in a mist of noxious gas, but the true appearance of the weapon is insidious, glowing orange runes similar to Luana's mark engraved throughout it. The weapon fires 9mm rounds, and all ammunition fired from the weapon has insane velocity. In addition, they oxidize and swell inside the victim once they are shot, slowing down reflexes and speed greatly for each wound made.
Equipment: The rugged leather vestments that Luana wears frequently are made out of a ballistic fiber similar to kevlar, but slightly stronger, able to keep most caliber bullets from breaching the cloth - and even then, they get stuck within. However, it is not designed to resist melee injuries, as that is up to Luana to prevent. She wields many knives of adornments big and small under her belts. Some are swift and sharpened to a fine edge, made for throwing, and the duller variants are created for pelting and hunting. In addition, she wields the Night's Edge, a scepter-like artifact in which all her power is siphoned from. Without it, her abilities are useless. An evil energy glows within its confines. which soothes Luana, to her great behest. If her Vorpal Sword is not available, it can be used as a weapon, with the scepter ring itself blasting out dark energy and the other half a bo staff of sorts. Abilities:
[Note that the repeated use of these abilities feed into Luana's insanity, violent nature and unpredictability.] Translucency - Luana can see more with her vision augmented by the Dark Plane, including all life forms and hostile creatures, their health condition and weaknesses, in addition to important items. Masquerade - Luana dons the mask of a demon, becoming none but mist and cloud with infernal red eyes. This inflicts great fear into the enemy, no matter who they are. Shadowstep - A brief warping into the Dark Plane, giving Luana the ability to dodge a certain attack. Burst - A large pillar of dark energy capable of razing and molecularly deconstructing everything in its path is fired out of Luana's hand. Wrath - A dark, burning passion within Luana is brought to light. This amplifies all of Luana's offensive and defensive capabilities as well as fries her nerve receptors for the rest of the fight, if not making her much more brutal. Raw Power - Energy is converted into the Vorpal Blade as well as Gevena Der. In this state, the Vorpal Blade can slice through any metal, no matter its stature, and becomes quicker than the human eye can conceive. Additionally, the rounds of Gevena Der become armor piercing and are fired at near-light speed. Sisters in Death - Summons as many shades as asked for that are complete copies of Luana, except feral and primal from insanity. They die in one attack but still sustain damage, if the defender is not quick enough. Rigor Mortis - Someone can be cursed with Geneva Red. This drains immense amounts of her sanity and the only way to counteract it is to beat her before the effects take hold.
Skills/Strengths: - Powerful swordsman. - Great restraint. - Crafty and resilient. - Smart. Weaknesses: - The Night's Edge being broken. - Brute force. Companion:

 • So another shadow type character. Cool beans. Just one thing with the sword. "Can cut through anything." is what I got from it, and of course there are certain items that that can't happen. Just so you know
