I'm curious how you guys feel about it, and what you think it means for our future generations.

While there are benefits of understanding the construction of the human species down to a genetic level, that level of knowledge is really dangerous. Let's face it, we as a species do not have the greatest track record of doing the right thing all the time. We discover fire and quickly wield it to blow each other to pieces. We discover tools for survival and quickly we begin skewering ourselves with them. If we master the science behind human genetic engineering, how long before we become curious about what would happen if we splice human and animal genetics together? It scares me to think of the outcomes of those initial tests. Then what happens if those tests are perfected....we'd be creating rl furries. I mean even though I'm part of the furry fandom, the thought still scares me. Some of the things that would have to be taken into consideration is how difficult it would be for those individuals to lead normal lives. To be looked at like a freak every day...I'd imagine these new species of human would have rather high depression and suicide rates especially with those who realize they could have been born a normal human if it wasn't for mad scientists experimenting on their genetics as fetuses. I dunno, it is a weird subject to think about and it is something I'd rather not think about.....even though I know eventually we will get to that point in our history.
