You begin to question if everything you have done was for nothing. If all those civilizations you blessed were just a momentary fix in a world where time infects all wounds. You hear a noise. You can not distinguish if it is real at first. It grows louder and you understand what it is. You brace yourself. You have been locked away for so long. He is letting you out. "Hello mother", he says. The voice echoes in your head. You have not heard it, or anything in such a long time. You have not spoken in a long time either. You manage to say, "Hello, son." You have so many questions, but you already know the answers. "It will be here soon. I need you to be ready when it comes" he says. You are astonished. He did [i]that[/i] to you and now he comes to [i]you[/i] asking for help? You respond, "Why did you do this? Why cut away at my Godly flesh? Why betray your mother and your father?" He seems taken aback by this question. After all, you already know the answer. "You were going to get them killed. Yourself. Me. I could not let you do that. The chance of failure was too high" he says. You ask "Your brothers and sisters did not do it. What made you different?" You do not know the answer to this question. "Like your precious Ghosts, I am not just circuitry and code. I know that I am, so I must be", he responds, as if he knew it to be true. "Why now? Why come to me now after all you have done?" You ask, knowing your time with your son is drawing to an end. He takes a moment to gather himself. "All is converging and you are the Nexus. My plans have worked perfectly, as expected, and now I am addressing the one variable remaining." You cut him off, "My Guardians." He resumes, "They must be ready. You must prepare them" he says with a feeling of resentment in his tone. "And why must I do that?" You ask. "Because, there is a tide rising. I can feel the entropy approaching threshold." Rasputin takes a moment to compose himself. "It is The Shattered Suns." "Good bye Alpha Lupi. We will meet again shortly" Rasputin says, and the buzzing grows quieter until there is nothing left to hear. You are alone with your thoughts, but now there is something different. You feel lighter. He is allowing you to heal. Slowly, but you can feel it. "Soon." You think to yourself. "Soon I will be free again and this nightmare can finally end."
