I really liked the system of the moments of triumph in year one. You got an emblem for doing pretty much everything destiny had to offer: beat the raid, get the golden chests, whatever.
I really liked the SRL record book (minus paying for it): you get to keep track of your stats and there are some neat rewards that tie into it.
I even liked the TTK record book that was essentially a mild combination of the two: you completed each of the activities and that was that, collect your emblems and shaders. Neat.
The Rise of Iron Record book however is a different story.
Instead of a page of major milestones you are instead given a multiple page laundry list of tasks to grind out, and individually they aren't really that terrible (except 5 trials cards kill me) but collectively they feel more like a burden than accomplishments. I'll see all these things I have to do to complete the book and sort of shut down. I already work a full time job I don't need another one.
Instead of beating the raid on normal and beating the raid on hard as was the precedent for the past two years you now have to grind it out multiple times to get "siva clusters thrown" and "charges delivered" and "bosses slain" and "chests opened" and so on and so on. It's incredibly obnoxious for players who don't have a designated raid group every week (read: most players) to have to go though the hell of lfg even once to beat a raid, let alone multiple times to complete these asinine tasks.
I get it: it's supposed to be more gradual progress but right now it's incredibly frustrating that I'll have to go though my least favorite part of desitny (lfg shenanigans) over and over to grind out all these tasks.
I really hope future record books passively record your stats and give rewards based on major milestones instead of the current system. Meanwhile I guess I'll grind out the first story mission ten times in a row :(
