Welcome to another Unofficial Weekly Update! While you wait for the official update to drop, here is a little something to sink your teeth into!
Today's poll: Do auto rifles need a PvE buff?
Here we are at another week where I found myself wondering: who should I interview this week? It hit me like a ton of bricks. With all of these new characters, it makes it tough to decide. I put the word out, and waited to see what rolled in. I was shocked at a particular response. Ladies and gentleman, I give you the long overdue interview with one of the fabled Architects!
So...you're one of the Architects?
That's one way to put it. Here in the background, most people know me a Jeed. I'm the one responsible for all contact with Guardians. I am your voice to the powers that be.
Jeed huh? So tell me, what exactly do you Architects do?
Great question! We do little bit of this and that. Turn a knob here, make an adjustment there. We are constantly looking to find ways for you to grow as Guardians, to help you become more powerful, and improve your experience in the world. We are always watching.
How does “killed by the Architects” figure into improving our experience?
We are constantly striving to adjust the way that you Guardians interact with the world. Sometimes, things don't work as intended. That's where our team of crack Architects step in and have a look at what's going on to cause things to act up. Sometimes, these are little changes we can fix. Other times, they require more attention than normal.
That doesn't answer my question...
Sometimes it isn't about answering questions, but creating converstions, Max.
Okay...
Basically, some of our best ideas have come from converstations within the community of Guardians. We are always listening, and combing through the data to find out the best ways we can deliver the best experiences for you and your fellow Guardians to experience.
So, by killing us in strange and sometimes baffling ways you create a converstaion about being killed in strange and baffling ways?
We create an environment where we can examine the data, sift through the plethora of ideas, and make changes that will better your experience throughout. Some of these changes are on the launch pad now, awaiting deployment, some have yet to be revealed. Some are still being developed. What is most important, is that you keep talking about it; we're always listening!
So...
Basically, we take that passion and energy that you Guardians provide, and we spin them into new adventures for you Guardians to experience!
You still haven't answered my question.
We are always looking for new ways to challenge Guardians, and perhaps surprise and entertain you along the way!
But how?!
In due time we plan to update you Guardians about when we plan to reveal some of the new and exciting changes we have in store for you!
I suppose we look forward hearing about when we can look forward to being updated about the next update. Next question: why aren't we allowed to freely explore some of the maps in the world? We get told to turn back or else we die. I think it would be kind of fun to have that kind of free exploration possible!
We know that you Guardians are passionate about exploration, which is why we are always searching for new ways to allow you to satisfy the wanderlust in your souls. Just look at Felwinter's Peak. We created a living social space that once you broke free from the main area you were free to travel back on the mountain and explore to your hearts content, or you could even climb to the very top to the peak.
I mean, it just seems kind of silly that we are these all powerful Guardians and yet we can't even take two steps off the beaten path without the threat of death. We slay entire battalions, topple Gods, and bring low the aggressors of Earth, but if we take two steps out on that ledge, we die. Why is that?
Sometimes, you have to strike a delicate balance between how something feels, and how something is supposed to perform. We encourage off the beaten path thinking, and love it when you Guardians find unusual ways to overcome or circumvent our intended pathways. It helps us to better deliver a more meaningful experience to you Guardians when it comes to creating new content for you to play in.
You didn't answer my question again...
I can't stress to you enough how important your conversations are. Anything I hear, I feed back to the other Architects, which is turn used to help spark the creative flames that keep you Guardians on the battlefield and becoming Legend.
Ugh...fine. Do the Architects actually play the game?
Believe it or not, one of the first considerations we make when we move into uncharted creative territory is asking ourselves: “Would WE have fun doing this?” Because we all leave work and go home and play Destiny. It's not just a game we develop, it's a game we are just as passionate about as you Guardians. It's just another way that helps us connect with the community and discover any flaws that may need addressing.
Is killing us in dubious ways and preventing us from exploring considered a flaw?
That's a question for other Architects who are far more knowledgeable about those things than I am. In the meantime, let me turn you over to my protoge, Omzoc, for some whimsical and amazing videos...
No thanks. I think we're done here, thanks for stopping by Jeed.
Thank you!
So there you have it! One of the mysterious Architects we see and hear so much about!
Xur showed up at the Tower again last week bringing with him the brand new Tresspasser exotic sidearm. While I think Sidearms are garbage (I'm trash at Crucible...this viewpoint is probably one of the many reasons I am) many players have gone on some serious kill streaks with this gun. Excellent stability, low recoil, and smooth firerate make this one a beast when killing Guardians. Unless you're me...then you just get killed by it a lot when charging your fusion rifle. I'm bad at Destiny. For Titans he brought the Mk 44 Stand Asides, which allow for better shoulder charges, Squishmittens got the Bones of Eao to make them more jumpy (as if they weren't twitchy enough haha) and for Warlocks he brought the Sunbreakers, which makes solar grenades more gooder. Perhaps the best thing was that he brough NON LEGACY exotic guantlets. This meant that he was selling exotics that would decrypt at current light levels with current tables. Hope you stocked up!
Wrath of the Machine Heroic mode was released this week to an eager crowd. Ready to tackle the more difficult mode many teams were, in the end, Clan Die Busfaher got to the end first, with a scortching time of 2:45:55. One might say they...drove a bus through it...ha ha ha...? No? Fine then. Coming in at second place, was clan The Legend Himself with a time of 2:47:44. I honestly thought he got there first it was THAT close! Also, if Slayerage is the Legend Himself, and his clan is The Legend Himself, does that mean that any member of his clan can be called the Legend Himself? Or just Slayerage? I don't know...Anyway, congrats to the the top finishers!
Some clever folks out there have managed to unearth some spoilers for the upcoming Festival of the Lost event that is coming to the Tower later this month. Some of the things they found were a hive shimmering green sparrow, masks for a wolf, Aksis and a SIVA cluster. New emotes, emblems and ornaments for Bad JuJu and Thorn were found too. Also of note, if you kept the raisins that Eris gave you last year, they become Ascendant Raisins this year. Neat...I guess. Raisins still suck and if you give them out this year for Halloween you are a monster. I'm looking at you Eris! Also of note, the reset this week included some free Silver Dust at the Postmaster. Thanks Bungie!!! Perhaps this is for the new ornaments that are coming out?
The Nightfall this week is pretty much the most awful thing ever. Shield Brothers with Solar Burn and Grounded. Basically, being stuck in a room with no cover, four billion adds coming out of doors (all with Solar weapons mind you) and taking absurd damage while trying to jump out of the way of Mau'ual. Real shitshow honestly. The only thing I can imagine being worse is the Wretched Eye with Void Burn and Trickle. “The Nightfall is harder than the Heroic raid!” one forumite was seen posting. “Just use the pillar in the center of the center of the room and you'll be fine,” another said. Hats off to any player who dominated this one. I haven't...but I'm bad at Destiny. We've established that...
Turns out the clever folks over at Reddit discovered that October 25th this year will be the 777th day that Destiny has been out. Does Bungie have something up their sleeves for this? We all know that Bungie loves the number 7 a weeeeee bit too much, so I would be shocked if there was nothing to commemorate it. However, one Redditor said, “If I were a betting man, I would guess that someone at Bungie just read this post and is the first to realize it.” Oh Reddit trolls...Anyway, lets hope for something cool! Actually, don't get your hopes up...
That's all we have time for this week folks! Thanks as always for reading, and remember to keep those guns piping hot and those Strange Coins handy! I'll see you in the Wild!
