I'm so tired of running PvE strikes where one little (insert curse word) doesn't move a muscle until the last part of the end-strike boss. Please, for the love of Destiny, shorten the dang AFK timer by 5, 8 or 10 minutes. Make it much shorter!
There is no reason that the active fireteam members should be dragging the lazy (insert curse word) through strikes. Enough already!

I believe in FF14 & ESO the AFK timer is between 2 & 5 minutes. Basically enough time to get up, poop, and come back. IMO that is the ideal AFK timer. After that...kick em.

A possible fix could be: After 1-2mins of inactivity, the two other players get to choose to boot the afk'er, but BOTH players have to agree. Maybe even give the afk player a (5 second) chance to reject the decision. If it happens a second time throughout the activity, you'd only need one player to boot the idler with no second chance and anyone who got booted should have a higher chance of being matched with other idlers. OR, at the very least, give the idlers a (timed but) non-changable emblem and shader to show the others in the activity that that player is an assho.....i mean, idler. Maybe just deny the idlers rewards at the end of strikes.

Nothing will stop someone from rubber banding their sticks. Impossible to stop without a vote to kick option, which then opens up some more options for trolls.
-
What if I'm taking a dump though? :(
-
Make it 30 seconds for strikes
-
Exactly why matchmaking on raids would not work....
-
I love how this game wants me to join every single losing game in progress in the crucible but I almost never get a strike in progress despite the number of times I've been in strikes where one guy is afk for ten minutes/strikes where I'm missing a player for the entire time. You get one minute from the start of the strike to move. Then you get the boot. You get three minutes inside a strike to be afk before you get the boot. There are plenty of people who would like to join into strikes that are almost over.
-
It's not PVP so Bungie is expected you to carry them. PVP they will get booted because they can't piss off there 1%
-
2 minutes seems to be fair before kick. I understand sometimes life literally knocks on your door and we have to take care of business but, the 2 other people in the strike shouldn't be penalized for it.
-
How long is it!?!? 2 minutes is more than enough.

I know it's like some of us have... Lives

Edited by JasperGTR: 11/17/2016 11:41:56 PMWouldn't optional matchmaking solve this? I still don't understand why this isn't a thing. If you want to deal with this - enter matchmaking and hope for the best (like it is now). Have a team of your own (2 or 3 players, or trying solo)? Choose no matchmaking (nightfall style). Bungie already has both mechanics in-game. They just simply choose not to change it.

That won't work cause they will just tie a elastic band around there joystick while they watch porn

As someone who has to get up to take care of little ones off and on during play, I'm totally okay with this. Long story short, if I didn't do the work, I don't deserve the prize. A solution would be to check ever 120 seconds or so as to whether players are inflicting damage on enemies. That way someone just can't rubber band a controller -- they actually have to be hitting stuff.
-
-blam!- > (insert curse word) Sorry. I do agree. Don't do a whole lot of strikes and subsequently haven't dealt with this in a while, but it's so stupid that someone loads up a strike and doesn't move a muscle for the rest of it. Kick their (insert curse word)'s out if they're not doing anything.
-
You should be playing to enjoy the game. If it offends you that someone is sitting there, you're more than welcome to back out of the strike
-
1 minute to boot
-
Yeah, the few times I've been kicked from Crucible for being AFK because stuff came up it happened pretty quick. I wish PvE AFK'ers would get kicked that fast.
-
i think 2 minutes is good enough. Halo 5 and Cod have that kind of time and it works fine. Afk should only be allowed when you are in a fireteam with your friends.
-
Well, the timer is fine but it also plays against us if the people you're running the strike with are really good. I've had strikes that only take 5 minutes to complete, if you skip some spam. And the we have the teammates who, for some reason, don't know where to go or are running against a wall (probably just pressing the joystick one way so that they don't get kicked) or just blatantly try to run ahead and expect the rest to pick up the slack. I've always said that one good way to solve it would be to do it like Left 4 Dead did: the teammates vote on kicking members out of the strike. Majority rules, end of discussion. In L4D's case, it worked against you sometimes as some trolls liked to team up kick people off at the very end of the event to prevent you from just finishing the thing. And I can easily see it happening in Destiny too if they implement it. But I think it would benefit people more than it would affect them. As it is, what we've got right now might not be the best method either so it can't be much worse.

i hated it when they made match making in the heroic strikes..just remove match making from the strikes.
-
Make so that if the person hasn't touched their controller until the boss, kick them. Sometimes I have to do something and I'm accused of doing it on purpose. We have lives, everyone does; but if you do it on purpose you deserve an unremovable emblem along with a weeklong strike ban. You're the PvE equivalent of Trials cheaters

I ran into a fellow who would run with us to every checkpoint and sit down until we cleared it. I wasn't about to do the strike for him, so I left.
