If you guys didn't read about what Bungie believes Iron Banner to be, here it is. Full of bullshit. Here's why.
"JP: Hello, Guardians!
I’d like to thank everyone for expressing their opinions on the latest changes to Iron Banner. Overall feedback on the structure and rewards of the event has been positive. We believe we’re achieving our goals for the event. We’ll continue to monitor feedback and event participation so we can improve the Iron Banner experience more in the future.
POSITIVE? Uhh no they haven't. Did you guys even page through the forums? Obviously not considering the majority were pissed. Feedback is feedback though.
If I had to summarize the goals for the latest changes to the event in one sentence, it would be this:
“As a player, I can play Iron Banner and be rewarded fairly for my time, regardless of which days of the week work with my schedule.”
Now, if that bland sentence leaves something to be desired, let’s dive into more detail about our intended goals for the current event structure!

Ranks
The goal for Iron Banner Ranks are to provide a system of progression that we can tie to specific rewards. Currently, these rewards include items with curated rolls on the event vendor and progress in the Rise of Iron Record Book. Previously, we used Ranks to grant reward Packages that provided a chance to earn specific Legendary items. Using the Rank mechanic in such a way was confusing to many players. It caused an unrewarding experience during the first several matches played in the event. Some players were even losing intentionally to avoid changing potential post-game rewards.
Yes, ok we know... Wait what? How was ranking up confusing? It's basic leveling/XP system for a faction. You win (or turn in bounties for rep), you rank up. It's Y3 people. The only confusing aspect was that our rewards were BLUES and items that were LOWER LIGHT by a long shot.
In the current event structure, you’ll find that you no longer need to reach Rank Five on all of your characters to unlock all possible rewards. This is intended to reduce the amount of pressure associated with the time commitment. For players who have the time to continue playing after unlocking the Rank-restricted rewards, you’ll be able to continue earning rewards by completing Bounties or finishing matches. The rate at which you gain reputation in Iron Banner was also increased to make unlocking those Rank-restricted rewards less time consuming."
Too much stress/pressure to rank up? OMG seriously?! Stop handing out trophies for people who participate. Either you win or lose. Either you play or you miss out. Rank-restrictions? DAFUQ! You took away Rank 3 and Rank 5 packages, so what the hell are you talking about? Since rank isn't a factor anymore, it all comes down to JUST PLAYING AND YOU WILL GET STUFF...MAYBE. Iron Banner rep doesn't matter. All you have to do is play - win or lose. Same outcome. You've reduced the actual playability here, Bungie. Regardless of those bounties.

What makes IB cancerous overall is that Hunters and Warlocks seem to be by default as tank-ish as the Titans are, which completely ruins the point of 3 different classes in the first place. And we all know how just a few guns are OP and can rule the game ( looking mainly at you, Grasp of Malok, Eyasluna and Palindrome). The damage mechanics aren't working properly, and the competitive aspect is all but ruined by cancerous cheaters. Instead of CoD bringing the extreme hate out of me before I quit completely, Crucible took its place.

Bungie needs to either sort it or admit they are holding their appendages and concentrating on self-gratification (that should pass muster). Perhaps they will promise to fix it for Destiny 2? I, for one, will sit back and read the feedback before investing again (especially as we will be grinding our rears off with no transfer of guardians from Destiny 1)

You could only buy the clever dragon if you were rank 5 so ranking up still matters for at least one character. They just moved all the rank 3 and 5 rewards to the bounties.

Sall good, screw these guys. We all know deej wishes he was in this ride along. If he is, oh boy...can't wait lol other than that at least they have him for iron banner. Maintaining that .5 kd majority of the time lol I spit at my screen before I start up destiny, every single time. I don't have an issue.

Edited by DarkAngelExerath: 11/16/2016 3:34:24 PMhe was totally fair in that statement. It gives more over all rewards, and you can get your stuff done in the first couple of days. (i kinda liked the long grueling haul to get the rewards, but i'd much prefer 2x the rewards). The biggest issue for me is: there is literally no point in getting to rank 5 anymore. but instead of getting only 2 guaranteed light increasing packages each IB, you get 4 from the bounties. I don't see why you say "regardless of those bounties", but bounties didn't do anything before except a few small tokens like marks, and giving you rank. this takes out the middle man, and instead of doing the bounties for rank, you do the bounties for the rewards the ranks would have given you. and when i was a new player i DID find IB confusing. the combination of the tempured mechanic, bounties, and iron coins made me scratch my head as to what the best way to approach it. it took me a few tries to figure out that the best way is to get your bounties done, then save them for the final day. What are you REALLY complaining about? what REALLY have they taken away from you? if you say "I'm not getting as much stuff" your argument is invalid because you get TWICE the stuff this way. are you upset that it's now geared towards more casual players? well you have Trials of Osiris, go join the try-hards there. Honestly, i just don't get what you're upset about. Please explain (without getting too aggro, i'm just trying to resolve your issue)

Edited by Rivvvers: 11/14/2016 9:44:44 AMI enjoyed this rant, but iron banner is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the systemic problems in destiny. Balance of classes and weapons being the most woeful display of ignorant development I've ever witnessed and it's so blatantly obvious this is one of those teams that "don't even play their own game". It's safe to say that crucible is a shadow of what it once was, and it wasn't perfect then, now it's a complete shit show and has earned my personal title of most enraging game ever, which has superseded the old call of duty games. Bravo 👏🏼 It's safe to say that bungie are lost in the woods, the fire is going out and the wolves are circling under the moonlight, waiting to drag you into the forest.
