Beside her was an empty throne, made in like manner, that seemed to command and draw her attention away from the offered tribute of her children below. The two thrones had been placed atop a floor of bone and hadium that had been grafted onto twisting spires that jutted from the ground and stretched high into the air. Where was this place? It was the secret throne space of Alak-Hul; carved and constructed by his faithful children and disciples of war. Who was this Deathsinger? It was the wizard Verok. The Wizard's mind was consumed with thoughts that should have been rebuked and slain; thoughts of loneliness and longing for her mate. These thoughts were her drive and motivation. She embraced them for her crusade was of a two fold nature. It was against the Light that yet offends, yes, but it was also against the treachery of the Hive gods, namely Oryx and his fool of a son Crota. She had been bound to no pact to pursue knowledge or cunning. She did not see the universe as her battleground. These pacts were limiting weaknesses that needed to be removed should the Hive truly seek to prevail in their conquest. These pacts with the worm gods only blinded Oryx and his sisters from the true nature of their cause. She reasoned to herself saying "If they have been bound to serve their natures, we will be their eternal liberation." The air crackled as a towering form manifested before Verok. Seemingly from nothing did a Hive Knight begin to materialize and take shape. Alak-Hul had come to his mate to hold council. To vent. He took his seat in the throne beside her and held her hand in a long embrace. Their bond was strong. It was a love that had come to be foreign and unwelcome among the Hive. A love that was viewed as weakness. Alak-Hul and Verok were tied by unbreakable bonds of true companionship. "My brother, Crota, has been given the charge to kill the Traveler and feast on its Light and offer this to Oryx. "He sits as the sole Prince but he has not been alone. He has brothers. Hundreds of Crota's victories have been won by your blade and claw. They were won by Urrox's flame and tooth. Oryx is not the father of only one. Oryx has given Crota much favor. But what has Alak-Hul? Where is your honor? Where is your great task?" Her question bit and clawed at Alak-Hul's soul. "You have no brother. Crota will be nothing. Oryx has but one son now. Urrox has been captured and left to rot. Oryx has abandoned him. Alak-Hul has been neglected and ignored. Your glory, your great ambition, has been gifted to another. You have only Verok." She reached out and clasped her hand in Alak-Hul's. "Crota, Sardon, and Omnigul, have already begun their assault on this new world the Traveler infects. They- "That Omingul!" screamed Verok. "She sits as a queen...as our queen. She beckons and Crota answers. She has much honor...too much. Her place should be Verok's. Her master should be Alak-Hul. Verok watched her mate's shoulders rise in tension as his frustration grew. His muscles tightened and his fists clenched in anger. Verok smiled. Alak-Hul responded. "Verok speaks truths to her mate. She cuts away the lies like flesh from the bone. She leaves only the truth for Alak-Hul to feast upon. Sweet truth. This is why Verok was chosen. You are the point, ever sharp and hungering. I am the blade, mighty and cyclical. Together we will cut and divide the weak and the strong. We will shatter the Traveler and feast on its Light together. We will rip Crota from his throne and burn his oversoul until only ash remains. "And, what of Oryx?" Asked Verok. Alak-Hul tossed back his head "Oryx gave me no task. Therefore I must task myself, With Oryx's ending." Alak-Hul raised his battleaxe high above his head. "I will not fail! We will not fail! I have ended the lineage of a thousand kings and trampled their palaces beneath my feet. You have slain and fed upon the young and the old while they begged for mercy and life. You have laughed at their foolish understanding!" Verok lifted and stared into her mate's face. "We have been together since the beginning. Since the the traitorous Taox. Since the slaughter at the Kaharn bastion. Our love has been our strength and Oryx has despised it. Never did we transgress in the eyes of our gods. Never did we withhold the tithes of our slaughter from their burrowed mouths, from Oryx. Yet he has dealt treacherously with you. Together we will lead the Hive into true victory and not be hindered by the weakness that Oryx has displayed time and time again. Together we will rule in love and keep each other sharp by killing one another for eternity. Our brood will be ride atop war moons and reign as the heirs of a true king." Let us cast off our former allegiances" said Alak-Hul. "I have already left my place among the Deathsingers. I no longer follow Ir Yut. I desire to rip her apart and destroy her brood. "And so you will." "I will take this power that I gain, this killing logic, and use it to crush Omnigul. I will bathe in her ashes and relish in her destruction. Then we will move on Oryx's daughters. "Then it is agreed. We will take Oryx's shrine first and cripple the inflow of tribute from his beloved prince. Crota slumbers and his temple has been left to his spawn. We have yet to visit it. Let's not be rude."

  • Nice job butchering the way the Hive speak. I especially like how they keep jumping between second and third person, even when talking to each other. My guess is that you did it to make them seem more primitive.
