I traded my in Xbox One for an Xbox One S last night and set all the Destiny content to download while I slept. The expansions downloaded, but the core game didn't. I tried to play Destiny and it said I could either play a Trail Version or I could purchase the Collection Bundle.
I purchased the digital game when it came out, then each expansion afterwards individually. The core game is not available on the marketplace anymore, only the bundle since you HAVE to have the expansions to play.
I spoke with Microsoft and they refunded me for the Rise of Iron expansion that I bought when I pre-ordered it even though I only needed the core game. So I paid $60 for the Collection Bundle, then was only refunded $30. They said they couldn't reverse the refund and credit the $60.
Destiny would finally load up, but now my pre-order bonuses (Iron Gjallarhorn and Gjallarwing) aren't usuable. It says it requires the pre-order license even though I already own and downloaded the pre-order content.
Upgrading to the Xbox One S has been a pain and I had to repurchase a game I already owned. A real bad experience with both Microsoft and Bungie, considering there's no tech support chat or phone number.

Well, my guess is that for the pre-order items, when you did the whole refund/rebuy thing, the refund voided the license for the Pre-order Rise of Iron, and you then bought Rise of Iron. Seeing as you no longer "own" the Pre-order edition of Rise of Iron, the items won't let you use them.

Strange Off the top of my head, maybe you originally purchased at least part of the game on account x, then played it on account y via game sharing and forgot. Then when you got the S you logged on as account y and thus it didn't see your purchase history. My understanding is the S isn't a new generation so things wouldn't need to be repurchased like it was form the 360-to-One
