Not in the month of May.
So I decided that I was going to farm the Forge for the Salad fusion rifle. I'd already gotten a few But Not Forgotten snipers beforehand, but I wanted that fusion!
As I crouched into the Forge, not finding any Guardian, I popped a green and proceeded my farm. After a couple greens, 2 340s walked in and waved at me. I laughed and was vaguely surprised that there were still 340s in RoI.
Anyway, they danced and pointed at the machine to activate an offering. I waved, and we proceeded to vanquish Captains, Servitors, and Vandals, running green and blue offerings.
Until, after one, one of them received a Perfected, and I groaned.
Judging by how eager they were, I knew they wanted to do it. They waved and shadestepped and surrounded me. I decided, "Oh fine. Let's do it."
In the past experiences, we all had the horrible realization of how difficult the Perfected offerings were. Even at 385, they were still a little difficult. With that in mind, I wondered how this was going to work with 2 340 light Guardians. Regardless, they popped the Perfected, and we dove into the Forge, guns blazing.
Surprisingly, we had little trouble. I had to protect our host so as he didn't respawn and trigger the end. When the boss started to spawn, we crouched inside the dome in the outer rings so we didn't die. I Nova'd the extra adds inside so we could focus on the one boss. They tethered, and we killed it quickly.
Soon after, more people joined, and we had a full house of Perfected offerings going off with only a couple 390+ Guardians including me. We all had loads of fun, and after the two 340s left, I received a message from one saying "Thank you so much for the experience!"
I know it was a very little thing like Forge, but it's messages like that that make me feel all warm inside and glad to be a gamer. I didn't get my Vigil, but I got them some good gear including a But Not Forgotten.
What experiences have you had, Guardians, with those lower than you or new to the game? Do you ignore them, or do you rise to the call and aid them in their own tasks?
Tl;dr: 2 340s surprised me with how well they did in Perfecteds, despite being severely underlight. I helped them and felt good.
Edit: Surprised not to have seen any negativity yet. Glad to see some like-minded players!
Edit 2: Doing Forge with 9 people! Amazing, bungie!
