Edit for Question: What will you tell your kids about bullies? I will tell them to try to ignore them as much as possible because pathetic bullies don't deserve an ounce of attention.

21 RepliesI'm sorry, but here's my two cents. Bullying will ALWAYS happen. Always. We can pass some cheesy "law" that will "stop bullying to create greater blah blah blah", but it'll still happen. Yes, it sucks that these kids bullied her, but she shouldn't have committed SUICIDE. I mean, how selfish are you? That's the one reason I hate suicide. It's SO selfish. You're saying that you can't better yourself, and your only way out is death? No. I'm sorry. It's the truth.

2 RepliesNow, I'll admit, I've never had depression or suicidal thoughts. I [i]have[/i] been bullied before, but I pulled through it. I am unable to comprehend what it would be like to be bullied to the point of suicidal thoughts. However, saying this girl "deserved it" because she was "weak" is a ridiculous and ignorant statement, at least in my opinion.

2 RepliesI learned to not let bullying bother me because I adopted a very toxic, nihilistic outlook. I told myself it didn't matter because in the end, nothing ever really does. These days, I just laugh because they can't really hurt you if you don't let them. Now physical bullying is a different story; you've got to leave a mark to make them leave you alone and never stop. You don't have to be tough or strong but threaten to stab someone in the cooch or schlong and they tend to back off.

It's appalling that people are blaming an 11 year old girl, who obviously doesn't have a full grasp on the consequences of suicide and its effects on her environment, over the people responsible for it. You can say "sticks and stones," or whatever self-confirming outdated phrase you want, but if you've ever once been mildly upset by something you've heard or read, then you're a hypocrite. If this post annoys you enough to respond against me, then you're a hypocrite. If you feel any sort of emotion strong enough from a completely indirect written message, that you have to respond, then imagine how daily berating from your closest peers must feel.

This kid has already gone through pain that you, me and everyone else probably will never experience, and it all at age 11. To then come back, surviving one of the most dangerous and difficult-to-treat diseases, and get completely shat on for it, is ok to you? Anyone who thinks bullying is good for growing thicker skin, is a despicable human being. This kid is stronger than any of you.

Very sad. Everyone is bullied, but some more than others. We have to also know that we all handle stress differently. Everyone has a breaking point.

Coming from someone who was bullied their entire life,ignoring them never works, trying to avoid them never works, telling an adult, you guessed it, never.-blam!-ing.worked, it didn't stop until I smacked the shit out of the people trying to -blam!- with me. I'm not saying anyone should make their kid into a bully themselves or that violence always solves a problem, but in the event of a continuous bully problem, a good ass kicking works as a VERY good bully deterant.
