I've logged over 72 days of Destiny now but I still can't seem to stop playing. I've bought a multitude of other games in the 2+ years since Destiny was first released but I keep gravitating back to my favourite game. The way it feels when you pull the trigger, the little details that almost go unnoticed and the amazing community of people put this game in a league of its own.
I'll never forget when the beta was released. I was out of town for work and couldn't get the hotel WiFi to work with my Xbox One (yes I fly with it). I had to burn through some phone data but I made it to level 8 on all three classes that week which, at the time, was the level cap. Ever since then, the only game worth any investment of time is Destiny. Yes, it has its flaws and yes, you have to grind through strikes but somehow Bungee found a way to make playing the same strike/raid for the 1000th time, backwards or forwards, fun. Every. Single. Time. Maybe it's because this time omnigal dropped that pulse rifle you've always wanted. Or maybe it's because this time you got that year one fatebringer that in no way is relevant anymore but holy crap i got a fatebringer!!!! It's time for a zombie dance!!!.
Another piece that keeps me coming back are the quests. The seemingly never ending, weekly refreshing quests. Think you've finished them all? Check your abandoned quests. Those done too? Check the weekly crucible bounty. Oh, and check all the public spaces because someone has something for you to do. There is no lack of the carrot for us players.
Whatever it is that makes Destiny....well, Destiny, it's special. It's unique. It's the best thing since sliced bread. Thank you for making this game bungie.

I can't stop either! I'm trying to influence other people in my life and get them hooked too! I can't stop! MUST! DESTROY! DARKNESS!
-
Same here, over 83 days played. Lol
-
I've been playing since pre-order, never stopped, been a Titan main since day one and am still a Titan main after over 2 years... some things never change XD
-
After 3 years,I find myself play less and less each week. Oh well
-
It's a placeholder for Borderlands 3, the state of this game ... it can't survive.

Edited by GoonerGuy8: 11/2/2016 3:31:41 AMI find myself logging in then logging off straight away nowadays. I've been grinding playing UFC2 Ultimate team trying to get my coins up. UFC205 fight card is stacked, so there should be some nice OP cards coming out in the next few weeks :)
-
Edited by epicBearcatfan: 11/2/2016 2:16:07 AMI feel the same way. I think about buying new games by thinking, "Will this keep my attention away from Destiny long enough to be worth the money?". I think I actually have a problem, I always find myself thinking about when I can try to fit playtime into my school/work/band/swim schedule. The only thing more addictive is probably cocaine.
And maybe frozen vanilla Oreos. I have a problem with those too.
I've got 60 days on it and felt like a loser when my kid said, "How much?" Yes, time wasted but it is relaxing and fun. A way to unwind at the end of the day.

The only games that ever had me like this were Halo 2 and Halo 3...but they're still not even close to my playtime in destiny and I'm 36 now

Edited by Gus: 11/1/2016 8:35:25 PMThose game mechanics and the occasional "god" roll just keep me coming back for more. Spin hamster wheel, spin! Dopamine drip, stat!

this is what keeps you coming back lol http://www.gamespot.com/videos/the-point-destiny-the-hardcore-gamers-slot-machine/2300-6425852/?comment_page=1 :)

I used to be on the same boat as you. This event killed it for me. I literally just logged on to get my grimoire for the event and my raisins that I held onto from last year. However, the cash grab that this event was finally pushed me to not care anymore. I really love this game. But Bungie doesn't care about us. They hide items behind a pay wall and expect us to be okay with it. Shame on them.

Halo 5 still in its rapper gathering dust, ef 343.
-
Nah I'm all about skyrim now. It came as a complete game with no cash grab bs and it is far larger than destiny.
-
Nice satire broham!

Edited by Ace: 11/1/2016 4:03:50 PMAgreed but I will play less until d2 comes out.. I know ppl gonna hate but I pre ordered COD infinite warefare

For the first time since year 1 I decided to make a different character. I've only had three warlocks since I started this game and decided to make a Titan. I've never had so much fun running around suppressing people in my life.
-
Same here.

I've been a player since Beta and Destiny has basically been the only game I have played for the last 2 years. Took slight breaks to play some other games (Uncharted 4, Dark Souls 3, Firewatch, etc), but I never stopped playing Destiny. I think I am finally done until Destiny 2 though. I'll log on every now and then when new stuff comes out, but I finally realized I'm not really enjoying the game like I used to and was playing out of habit. I think the nail in the coffin was this year's Festival of the Lost. The fact that Bungie hid all the masks and ghosts behind a paywall (an RNG paywall at that!) just really turned me off. I now get to go back and enjoy all the games I missed the last two years that I normally would have played. I'll definitely be back for Destiny 2.

Destiny has been so lucky that all the new games are garbage.
-
I have slowed down alot on destiny. I have 4hrs or less played last week. I got fed up with going red bar every fking match. Never had this problem till the pre roi update. Been playing less ever since. Just couldn't take it anymore.
-
It's been over 2 years and i still can't stop playing Destiny
Try deleting the game. Worked for me last December. Then I accidentally deleted it this summer. That worked too. The main reason I keep coming back are all the fantastic people I've met through Destiny. The game itself is fun but there are more fulfilling experiences waiting for you. Reaching LL400 and collecting gear is a fun goal but none of it will matter when Destiny 2 drops. Now is as good a time as any to take a break.
-
Yep. I look at purchasing other games through the lens of "will this game hold my attention away from destiny long enough for me to justify buying it"
-
Edited by Tri-Dragon47: 11/1/2016 11:11:52 AMIt been three years playing. My question is why I am still playing destiny when trials become load of crap. Trials still have issues.

Edited by gfuup: 11/1/2016 9:44:16 AMSame here :) If memory serves me right, last time I checked, I was @ 3000 hrs. I have 123 games on my external harddrive and hardly touch any of them. Destiny is life!
