Today's daily (10-21-16) is from The Taken King. Specifically the mission where the player ascends a pre-collapse colony ship, to find a stealth drive. At the end of the mission their is a scannable pod which triggers dialogue from your ghost. In this dialogue the ghost mentions a guardian who wants to stay in the stasis pod; because he is tired from a previous war. This raises suspicion as to who this is and what that war was.
I am not sure who this could be, because we know how all the legends end. Rezzal Azzire (don't judge my spelling) most likely turns into Dredgen Yor, Saint-14 goes after Osiris, Tolland the shattered is roaming the ascendant relm, and the Iron Lords died to SIVA. I can't think of any other guardians who were MIA or KIA.
So I now pose the question of "who is in the pod?" I have no idea as to who it could be. Or even what the battle they were is could have been called, because we know what happens to all accounted guardians after the major battles. Before I finish this off I'd like to mention that the exo stranger is not a guardian, so bear that in mind.
Edit: after many of the same response I realize that it was a reference to Halo. However I'd like to know if their is a lore based explanation. Finally, this is not the place to argue about Dregen Yor's identity; I said might when in reference to him so let's keep it stasis related.

Cortana sealed Master Chief away in a stasis pod plus he said the last war was enough for a lifetime.
-
It's obviously Master Chief Petty Officer Spartan John-117. It's a Halo reference.

I've always wondered how anyone came to the conclusion that it's a Halo reference. None of the pods say 117. No mention of fighting an alien race. All we're told is it's a Guardian of immense Light that Ghost tried to awaken back in the day, but the Guardian requested he remain in stasis, because he was in a large battle/war that could last a lifetime. No reference or allusion to Halo. How did people get to the conclusion that it was Halo?

-
Dude all that is an easter egg and vague reference to halo. That's all
-
You failed the secret mission, you need to wake him up before you go, but you left him hanging on like a yo-yo
-
It's a Halo reference.

Master chief easter egg
-
It's just a reference to Master Chief...
-
Master chief reference
-
I think its a Master Chief easter egg, but a while back I did see a fun post that suggests the guardian is a nod to Stosh. The evidence is that the pod number was #10201, and the 2 shouldn't have even been there since the number was supposed to be binary code.

It's Master Chief. And Dredgen Yor was a hunter.
-
Its an easter egg, and illusion to the master chief, been in game for a while there friend

It's my Hunter from my 360 days. He was sick of legacy and went into stasis when I moved to ps4. God rest his soul.
-
Never even noticed. I don't listen to the ghost. More annoying than the fairy that follows Zelda around.
-
It's just an Easter egg refrencing Bungie's old video game series Halo. The person in the pod is Master Chief. If you don't know what Halo is or who Master Chief is BUT you play Destiny, then shame on u
