Faction packages capped at 390 is really lame

Really bad move Bungie. Edit: Now with 100% more fun exotic farming Edit 2: So after running Trials this morning, I find the avenues to progression even more vexing and inconsistent. A large number of people who disagree think that faction ranks are too easy and that it's not earning endgame light levels and with that in mind, someone please justify Trials rewards. You can do nothing. Lose every match. Never get a kill. Never try and get post match armor drops up to 400. But the gold tier bounty that actually requires a little effort and 20 round wins drops at 390... What the actual -blam!-? If it's about playing endgame content to earn your light, why would the bounty that requires effort not give it but the post match rewards do? Again, this shit isn't consistent and that's my problem with cutting off factions. It's arbitrary and changes nothing in being able to get max light without raiding other than punish people who play solo.

    Reward for the effort to level up a faction now equates to zero. I agree with OP; this mentality of giving a participation medal in the form of up to 400 light drops from pvp regardless of performance is a joke. In contrast, put the effort into levelling up a faction and get rewarded with a useless item post 390 light. I'm at 394 and the climb now is ridiculously slow. I know Bungie wants to string out the Destiny experience (and so keep people playing and buying silver etc.). Even exotic engrams seem to set to give you almost zero chance of getting an exotic item you don't already have (probably for the same reason) but the climb from 365 light onwards becoming increasing difficult the higher you get, grinding almost to a snail pace, to just way too much. Yeah Bungie just use s#!t design and gambling psychology to keep people playing instead of providing a decent amount of content for the $$$ people pay for the game and all the DLC.

  • As a solo player Thisbe sucks a lot the only way for me to get you 400 light is either iron banner or exotics. It makes it feel like for me what's the point in even playing through the week when i can get loads of three of coins and wait for iron banner.

  • The son did hard mode raid. His words for drops were. Now please remember this is a 11 year old. Again his words were: "What the -blam!- is with Bungie and the crap, shit rewards! I have had more excitement taking a shit!" So, now I am in trouble with mom. -.- so need to be careful on what I say more often.....

    I'm at 392 and all of my exotics have been decrypting at 390-391. But I definitely agree, a 390 cap on faction packages is ridiculous.

    • Problem with exotics is they aren't even guaranteed to come in at 400 WHILE AT 399!!!!!! My last 6 or so exotic weapons came in at 399 while opening at 398-399. The grind is real

        • I agree with this 100%. You don't even get excited about opening packages once you pass 390 light. I mean why would I even waste time using a Crucible or Vanguard booster. Very Lame on Bungies part. Packages should drop up to 400 light.

          • You are almost 400 with 2 characters at the first reset after the light boost. Although I don't agree with them limiting faction packages you can do any content in the game at 390. Trials and the Raid are by far the best way to get max light gear, wins 5 and 7 the 2 rewards in the Lighthouse plus the random rewards throughout. The hard Raid gives us 3 loot caches and 4 boss drops. Someone already pointed out Destiny is not designed for solo players so they should work harder for that max light if it is their goal

            • I dislike it. But we already all know that it's one of their few tools to increase the grind. If everyone hit max level too quick, we probably would not play as much. Trials of Osiris & The Crucible drop items up to light level 400. It was easy for many people to hit 400 by playing trials this past weekend. And everyone should be a 400 by next Tuesday. Unless your casual, which is obviously totally OK, & light level doesn't make much of a difference, so it really does not matter. Lol.

                As for the trials artifact & gold packages. Lol. This is Bungie, many little details don't make sense. But making sense aside, Archon's forge drops 400 artifacts, class items, & ghost, so... there are plenty of avenues.... Does not justify their amateur decision making, unless it's something the average consumer, us, is over looking. But we would never get an in depth detailed answer from Bungie. That's for sure. My post, which unfortunately is getting ninja/hater nerfed, has plenty of head scratchers imo, which we will never find out info about. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/216119974?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=0 But hey, we are not entitled or deserving enough to know details & why they make certain decisions.

                • I have come to the conclusion that light level or the chasing of it is stupid and I'm not doing it anymore. We should have just stayed at level 30 and grown the game in size rather than shrinking playable content with leveling. Cool unique gear and weapons would have been enough of a carrot to get us to keep playing everything, just make items rare. Leveling progression is more for RPG's as you progress thru an actual story with huge explore able areas and endless missions, not so with Destiny where content is extremely limited. I hit 385 light and started a new profile where I'm playing thru vanilla again. It's the only real fun left in the game, do VoG at the correct light and keep going. Which is sad to say 130 days into an expansion. My plan is to get to level 40, delete the character then rinse and repeat. I will still log in to my main when my clan want to run WotM but I'm only going to run normal. But I'm not purposely doing anything to progress.

                • I'll tell you how they justify it. The simple fact is that they want people doing what they consider endgame activities, and Trials is part of that. That is also why regular Crucible rewards well (in that you can lose, etc and still get legendary items). They want people doing multiplayer activities. What they don't want is people soloing their way through everything, which is exactly what (they think) people would be doing with faction packages. They're at least partially right - the amount of people who just faction packaged their way to 385 tells us that. At the core, Destiny is a multiplayer game and has MMO aspects. Therefore, multiplayer and endgame activities reign. Also, before you jump all over me, no, I don't necessarily agree with all of it. That's merely how I think it's justified from their end.

                • Is the latest raid as simple as KF? Haven't cared enough to bother looking for others to consider running it yet. Any gear actually worth it this time? Did they finally make one fun? Or just same ole shit?

                    I've gotten to 394 today but it's SLOW after 390 with rank up packages capped at 390. But at 394 what's 6 more light anyways? Next IB and the SRL will help a lot get up there. I'm at 394, 390, 390 now, I can relax and inch my way up to 400 :P Heroic raids may help haven't done one yet.

                        I've been thinking, Why is getting max light the point of this game? I wish there was more focus on...pppppuuuuhhhh, a story? Roi kinda did a good job there, hell ttk did too. Just saying rng and light level should not be in the same category or the focus of the game imo. Just what Im thinking. If I buy D2: We should be able to level up to a million if we want. We should have one type of currency (not marks and glimmer). Micro transactions should be purely cosmetic (not happening). All weapons (purples, or exotics) should have set stats but look different (by that I mean all shotguns hit the same, AR, ect. Bet that would make balancing easier....right?). Get rid of rolls, get rid of whites and greens, and blues should have a infuse system that makes em purples. Kiosk for all purples and up. There should be no weekly resets for anything, everything is just playable all the time. Strikes, Nightfall, and raids all have different difficulties and you are in charge of how hard you want it. Light level could be more like (dear I see it) gta v and CoD where you unlock cool stuff the higher you get, but there is no cap (idk) A solo way to get everything(Most important to me). Noting more annoying then to have to get off work and have to get on lfg to find a team. OMM/LFG ingame, I mean if there is going to be team activity.... Close range chat with a muting option If ToO is going to be a thing, Separate the hardcore from the casuals, and reward players for putting the time in and trying. Online optional If there are going to be balances.....Separate pve and pvp, get dedicated servers ffs, and find a balance team who plays as much as your day one players and knows how to balance please. The guy who hates fun doesn't want his job. My damn guardian better talk way more. We should have way more customization options on everything(clan tags, ghost, guardians, gun skins, ect. Clean slate, same guardians, new abilities, and more to do. Let us naming our guardians. Bots in private matches If weapons are going to have quest, the quest should be soloable. That raid weapons quest looked fun, but I can see players wanting to do it and their friends quit playing destiny long ago So off to lfg. Xur/Queen/osiris/ect should have bounties/allegiance and weapons that look as if they were crafted by them. Stop reskining shit. People are soloing raids now, and have always been able to. So....raids that supported 1-6 players? In game library for all of destiny-roi grim. Other two guardians you created in game helping you in strikes and missions. Ability to put on all exotics everywhere (dgaf who disagrees here) Patch notes are emailed days in advance so that players can plan ahead More events where players fight the devs Fan made emotes Ghost voice options More vehicles to drive and fly or hover board Wild life All Characters bios I want deej to be a strike boss, Id play that strike back to back lol. If rng is going to be a thing there should be a book for players to report ingame. I've seen this type of weapon drop to many times, or I haven't seen this one drop. Scratch that RNG should just be a -blam!-ing genius. Idk, That just off the top of my head. I know I went obove and beyond with this list lol. Its just my wishlist, your move bungie [i]Mic drop[/i]

                        • Bump. 395 is reasonable. 400 light level should not be the end-all raid solution to more dps and survivability. 400 light should be for everyone...but hard mode raid gear should provide a contingent: each hard mode raid gear piece provides 2.5% more dps and defense against wrath of the machine enemies. Hard Mode ornaments should provide 10% defense against Siva nanite clusters. Hard mode raid gear is totally useless, we can all earn a normal raid gear, infuse it to 400, and hot dang we got ourselves a heroic raid gear fellas...oops don't forget the black shader to make it look legit.

                          Just be happy that for the first time ever in this game, you can achieve a light higher than the starting light requirement for the heroic raid; i.e. your complaint about 390 when the new hard raid is 380.

                            Faction ranks are far too easy to obtain now. You could get to max light on all 3 characters and barely step out of patrol!

                              • I am yet to receive weapons or armor from factions or the vanguard above my current light lvl. Thank the stars that crucible, forge and skeleton keys do.
