So I'm extremely passionate about this whole lore thing behind the game and the Trinary star cult.
First things first, the Trinary star is featured as a hunter cloak, part of the cloak features an emblem (dead zone memento), which is also part of another hunter cloak called Dead Zone Revolution.
The cult, from the descriptions, is a secret cult that curse the Traveler's light. There's a few theories going around that people who see the traveler as a god want to solely have light exist, and darkness to end. At the same time, a primary noted theme in the game is "where there is light, there is darkness." Even the Exo stranger, who doesn't have a ghost, claims to not follow the light. We even have Xûr, an agent of the nine who is always hidden in a dark location, and is a race we don't know about.
Speaking of the Exo stranger, she's also a hunter, which is the only way to see this cult stuff. Possible connection?
From various digging, I remember reading that someone discovered the speaker saying how there is something that is a group that is neither light, nor dark in the game. The speaker also sold both of the hunter cloaks mentioned before.
I wish I could grab more sources for you guys, but I'd rather hear everyone's thoughts and opinions on the matter. Even throw in some more lore to back this up!
I'm definitely a fan of this whole thing cause in my opinion, it has a sense of balance between light and dark, which is the theme I've heard the most from this game.
Tl;Dr : cult of the Trinary star is awesome i my opinion, references the "where there is light, there is darkness," the Exo stranger, a hunter, is possibly connected to this cult. I'm super lazy right now to even bother with backing up thoughts.
What do you all think? Any other Trinary Star Fans?

The future war cult might also have something to do with it. Have you seen the perk on their guns called "Hidden Hand'? And basically, they believe war is never-ending. That the darkness will always continue to push the light. Could the Traveller have something to do with that??? Also, watch this video by Gametheory. It sheds some light on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5NbEjkkPlI
